† Hello, Mum … !
‡ I think the one woman mentioned at that point, Olga¶, was Betsy Ross: she supposed to have sown the first American flag. There’s arguments, though: no-one’s sure if she did or not.
It’s got an interesting background, Olga, I know that: quite a lot of games took a cue from things like RuneQuest, and Traveller, and had-built in backgrounds. It made for a lot less work for the referee. (Steve Jackson of GDW, the company behind Traveller and Space: 1889, also founded Steve Jackson Games: the company that got raided by the Secret Service.)
Totally off the subject, Olga? When I switched on the telly, this morning, the News channel was airing The Travel Show. It didn’t take long to work out where they were …
§ Cheers, Debbi¶: I’ve got it bookmarked for later: and I’ve added the YouTube version to my Watch Later list.
Do any of the local stores use Click and Collect? That can be very useful … !
¶ Did I mention “Free Man”, by When Rivers Meet? It’s rather good …
Q5) counterfeiting Oh, castells! Good way to start the day. What a bizarre story about the game... I wonder if the person living in the house where the beeping is continually going off isn't away and with the power cut some alarm just went off and hasn't been adjusted, but it's true that it can be a problem. It happened with my house alarm once, while I was travelling, although, thankfully I was on my way back and my neighbours had a set of keys in case something happened. It might be worth checking, though. I imagine if somebody had a set of keys they would have checked already, unless it is rental accommodation...
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
