* I can understand why Google would make it difficult. Times have changed since Apple introduced the iPod, and the associated iTunes software: and, as CDs were more common, there was more demand for importing CD collections. Given that, the fact streaming is a lot cheaper and easier, and the fact Google made money by selling you songs on the discontinued Google Play Music? It’s understandable that Google would make importing CDs to a Chromebook, fiddly. They’d rather you bought a song from them …
† Hello, Mum!
‡ Well … more divided by cash, Debbi: League had a lot of working class players in northern England, working class players who’d lose a days pay, unless teams paid them. I think both games are now professional: but don’t quote me!
Oh, have you heard Karen Gillan’s going to be in the new version of Highlander? Apparently, her regular dialect coach is getting time off. Henry Cavill’s playing the main character. His accent better be good. (It can’t be worse than the original. You had a Frenchman playing a Scot, a Scot playing an Ancient Egyptian, and an American playing a Russian!)
§ The Kursaal Flyer’s one big hit? Is possibly one of the most overblown tunes I’ve ever heard. And, yes: I have heard Queen, the Sparks and ELO … !
Q6) 1948 I don't know what happened to my answers yesterday, because I wrote them down, with some added comment, and thanked you for the explanation about Rugby and how it worked, but it doesn't seem that you got them. Either I forgot to click the button, or something else happened. Mind you, my head is in many places at the moment, as I'd been trying to get some of the interviews for the festival ready. By the way, it all starts later today (and there's rain forecast). I won't have much time free until it ends, next Sunday (the 31st), so, don't worry if I don't come by much. I'll try to visit and say hello on Twitter at least. Oh, and I understand your sister. I have kept some of my CDs, although I don't listen to them very much. Depending on how her laptop is, I am sure the sound of her CD player is much better. Mine is fairly new but the sound isn't very good. I know you can connect it to speakers, but I can't be bothered (specially because there isn't much space). I hope you can sort it out for your sister, though.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
I almost forgot, Debbi: yes, there is a bank holiday, this weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt’s the last Monday in August, in England, but the first in Scotland.
It’s also the traditional date for the Notting Hill Carnival.
