Q1)Charlie Watts died on 24th August, 2021. He’d been the drummer for which band: the Who, the Beatles or the Rolling Stones?
Q2)24th August marks Willka Raymi, in the Cusco region. Where is Cusco: Peru, Bolivia or Chile?
Q3)The Panic of 1857 started on 24th August, 1857. In which country: the US, UK or France?
Q4)24th August is the feast day of Saint Aurea of Ostia. Where is Ostia: Italy, Spain or Croatia?

“I don’t know a soul who doesn’t maintain two separate lists of doctrines — the ones that they believe that they believe; and the ones that they actually try to live by.”
From Shadow of the Hegemon by Orson Scott Card, (born August 24, 1951).
And a very French LP …
The next ten question set is on 25th August: it’s about Nottinghamshire.
† Quite what happened, there, Olga, I don’t know! The email notification still hasn’t turned up: but the notification in my Blogger dashboard turned up this morning … ! What IS the Catalan equivalent to ‘Ho-hum’?
If I recall correctly, Olga§? Out of the pair of them — the Pope and the head of the Egyptian Coptic Church — the Coptic leader’s the only one whose title is ‘the Pope’. The Roman Catholic pope’s ‘merely’ a senior archbishop-Cardinal who’s nicknamed ‘the Pope’.
I couldn’t tell you what the difference in the Orthodox Churches is: although I know some of the Orthodox churches music I’ve heard is hypnotic. But as for the various Protestant ones … ?
Well … Anglican churches are what the Americans call Episcopalian. The Church of England has no religious authority in Scotland, Wales or Ireland: and the King is only the head of the Church of England.
Moving on … ? I think the sound from laptops will vary: the signal will be good enough to power external speakers, or headphones. But the laptop’s own speakers won’t be good. It’s like flat screen TVs. The built in speakers aren’t deep enough to play the bass notes. We’ll have to see what happens, I think!
‡ I don’t think Hugh could get away with the costumes, either, Debbi: you need the figure for them. (The things been going for years, is the British Caribbean event of the year and — if I’ve understood things correctly — featured some of the first Sound Systems to play in the UK.)
I think I was more bothered by Sean Connery’s Egyptian accent. ‘Convincing’ is the last word for it!
§ All I can do, there, Olga? Is point you at this:
Hi Paul, I'm back. Enjoying catching up all the comments. Very interesting. I'm ashamed to admit I hadn't realised that The King is only head of CofE. Sorry Paul but I must ask ... whose head of Scotland and Wales obviously I know part of Ireland is RC. Down to business now: 1. Rolling Stones 2. Peru 3. US 4. Italy 5. The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
