Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25-12-2025 — Christmas Day

25th December, 2025: Christmas Day.

It’s Christmas Day.

And … ?

Bar the one car that’s just gone past, my street is as quiet as the grave.

It’s the one day of the year it happens: and quite beautiful.

With that said?

I can only wish you — and the neighbours, if they’re reading this — a very Happy Christmas.

It’s the one bit noise we should make, today.

~≈🎄≈~

Unless the noise is music, of course.

I always think the best Christmas song ever written, is one about two drunk people having a row in the middle of Times Square.

How more Christmasy do you want?

How more Christmasy can you get?

The only way to get more Christmasy … is to have a song by two of the best male singers of their respective generations.

One of whom is in recovery from a serious drug habit: the other*, a major investor in tape recorder technology.

Either of those songs … ?

Is a contender for “Best Xmas Song Ever Recorded”!

~≈🎶≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring five out of five and Mum on four.

The day also saw Olga§ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Eartha Kitt died on Christmas Day, 2008.   What was the name of her one Christmas hit?

Q2)        “Christmas Day” was a 1979 hit for which British band: Squeeze, Madness or Status Quo?

Q3)        The Christmas Day (Trading) Act was an act of law passed by the UK’s Parliament.   In which year: 2002, 2004 or 2006?

Q4)        Christmas Jones is a character in which James Bond movie?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Factor IX is also known as Factor 9, and as the Christmas Factor.   It helps human blood do what: clot, absorb oxygen or fight bacteria?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        24th December is Christmas Eve.   Is Christmas Eve, 2025, a public holiday in the UK?
A1)        No.

Q2)        The Night Before Christmas was the eleventh album by whom: David Hasselhoff, Carman Electra or Pamela Anderson?
A2)        David Hasselhoff.

Q3)        “Christmas Eve” is a 1832 short story by Nikolai Gogol.   Gogol was born in a village that’s now in which country: Ukraine, Belarus or Poland
A3)        Ukraine.   He was born in the village of Velyki Sorochyntsi.   (Just don’t ask me to pronounce it!)

Q4)        Christmas Eve is a character in which musical: Wicked, Avenue Q or Cabaret?
A4)        Avenue Q.

Q5)        Finally … ?   For churches that follow the old Julian calendar, Christmas Eve is on which date: 6th January, 7th January or 8th January
A5)        6th January.
Here’s a wish …
“Happy Christmas”.
And a carol …

There’s a twelve question set is on 31st December, 2025: it’s the review of 2025.

The next ten question set is on 1st January, 2026: it’s about The Archers.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I found out, when writing a Crosby themed Teaser, a few years ago, that Bing was a major investor in Ampex, one of the early US, tape recorder manufacturers: he made sure their machines was used to record his radio shows for distribution.
I think he’d twigged, early on, that controlling your own master recordings was a good way of controlling when they got released: and, therefore, when you started getting royalties.   Something you don’t have to tell Taylor Swift.

†        Hello, Mum!   It was Avenue Q, Mum, rather than Wicked.   (See you later!)

Mentioning Oliver Cromwell’s an idea, Debbi: his Puritans banned Christmas.   Apparently … … !   (Oh, I got the card … !   Cheers: and Happy Hogswatch!)

§        We’ll see you when we see you, Olga!   (Happy Christmas!)

  2. Q1) Santa Baby. One of my zumba teachers loved the song and in the running up to Christmas we always had to do a routine with this song, including wearing tinsel and the lot. I remember the looks on the faces of the people waiting to come into the studio for the next class!

    Q2) Squeeze

    Q3) 2004

Q4) The World Is Not Enough

    Q5) clot
Happy Christmas, Paul! Oh, I agree about the Pogues' song. It's one of my favourites. I hadn't heard that version by Bing and David Bowie. It is something, for sure.

  3. Oh, by the way, I posted this review this week and included a Catalan Christmas Carol, although I think there are versions in other languages as well. The setting is superb. And, I think you might find the book intriguing as well.

  4. Sorry to keep adding comments, but I was listening to Driving Home for Christmas (I've always liked Chris Rea. He has one of those voices I like, with lots of character, like Leonard Cohen in his later years, or Joe Cocker, or Johnny Cash), and I read he died just 3 days ago. I had seen that he had died and wondered why I didn't know, but I didn't realise it was that recent. I don't think I've heard it on the news here, but they've been pretty busy with other news, I guess.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
