Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-3-2025 — World Frog Day
20th March, 2025: World Frog Day.
Right …
It’s now Thursday, the Spring equinox and World Frog Day.
The world’s excitement is either off the scale …
Or non-existant.
Either way?
I’ve posted a video, yesterday: of a bit of unboxing.
I’ve also done an experimental version of that video: with the free copy of DaVinciResolve.
Why DaVinci?
Especially as I’m more familiar with iMovie, and can work quickly with it.
Well …
Mostly because I fancied a change.
And both the free and paid for version of the app have reputations for being powerful for their size.
My only issues, so far?
Finding out how to use green screen compositing was tricky: some of the buttons were hard to find.
The transitions are good: but need figuring out.
There doesn’t seem to be audio fade-in/fade out options: at least, that I could see.
We’ll have to see what happens.
~≈🧑🎨≈~
Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Mum and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Olga and Irene on four.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1)Nicholas Hawkes was sentenced and gaoled on 19th March, 2024. He’s generally seen as Britain’s first convicted what: cyber-stalker, cyber-flasher or cyber-scammer?
Q3)Hitler issued a decree on 19th March, 1945: ordering that German infrastructure be destroyed. It’s known as the what: the Nero Decree, Augustine Decree or Vespasian Decree?
Q4)The Swiss Government brokered a buy-out of Credit Suisse by UBS. Credit Suisse and UBS are both Swiss whats: banks, chocolate companies or garden gnome makers?
* Hello, Mum! (Well done: five out of five, today!)
† Yes, I was keeping it quiet, Olga: early doors, and all that. Heigh ho! (They’re a nice person, they really are: but money was definitely an issue.)
It might be an idea to keep an eye peeled, Olga. A chick getting rained on could seriously go viral! Let’s hope there’s a few more eggs.
‡ Hang on, Irene, the earliest date it can fall on is in 2285 … ? What are you putting on your cornflakes?
§ You’ve not read Equal Rites, yet, Debbi? You’re possibly in for a treat. It’s not one of his best: but it is the first with a significant member of the Weatherwax family.
It’s a mixture of things, Debbi. You should see the question list I’ve got. It used to fit on a floppy disk¶ …
¶ I’ve still got a USB floppy disk drive, somewhere, Debbi. I’ve got a JAZ disk, as well: complete with the oldest known copy of the question list.
It does seem to preserve the quality of the footage I record with the LogitechBrio camera I have: but leaves noticeable fringing on the composited image.
Q5) spawn You forgot to put the answer to the last question on today's post. Oh, there aren't many pictures, because I had to leave early and I spent the whole morning there, but on my post about the Sunday festival I attended, there are some pics of Castellers del Poble-sec and their guests. https://www.el3.cat/noticia/100525/les-festes-de-santa-madrona-al-poble-sec-desafien-la-pluja-i-compten-amb-mes-participacio-
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
