Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21st March 2025.

21st March, 2025.

I have to admit, it’s pay day: so … ?

I’m going to be off shopping and bill paying, later.

Which will be so much fun, I’ll get over-excited!

Yeah: you can me getting ironic, there, can’t you?

~≈🙃≈~

At any rate … I’ve got a review in progress: as I watched Robert Eggers’ 2024 remake of Nosferatu, last night.

I’ve also got the video version of the review planned.

With a provisional timeline set up in DaVinciResolve.

The same software I’ve used for the intro video at The top of this post.

There’s upsides: the free version is remarkably feature-rich.

Although I’ve yet to work out how to fade audio tracks in and out.

The only other downsides, for me?

Is that there’s some noticeable green fringing in the videos I made with it: more than I’ve seen in their iMovie equivalents.

And DaVinci lacks the quality outputs iMovie has: although it does have presets for various platforms.

We’ll have to see what I can do, there!

~≈🧑‍🎨≈~

Just as a last thought … ?

I’ve been reading the collected MACH1 comics: from my misspent, 2000AD reading, youth.

The character is a British equivalent to the Bionic Man.

I’ve got to the episode where the main character’s predecessor, MACH0, is introduced.

And?

When I saw the original image of 0, a thought struck me.

That the image reminded me, vaguely, of the anti-semitic cartoons published by the Nazis, in 1930s Germany.

I can only hope that was accidental!

~≈☹️≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Which prison shut on 21st March, 1963: Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary, HMP Strangeways or El penal de San Pedro?

Q2)        The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change went into effect on 21st March.   Of which years of the 1990s?

Q3)        21st March, 2025 is Red Nose Day.   This year’s event won’t feature Lenny Henry, as his last appearance as host, was when: 2022, 2023 or 2024?

Q4)        21st March is the UN sponsored World Day for Glaciers.   Glaciers are usually made of what: rock, ice or soil?

Q5)        Finally … ?   21st March is also the UN sponsored International Day of Forests.   Forests famously contain a lot of what: water, trees or rhubarb?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        20th March is World Frog Day.   Frogs are what ‘A’?
A1)        Amphibians.

Q2)        Frogs don’t have what: tails, eyes or skin?
A2)        Tails.   (The tails of male, tailed frogs is actually an extension of the cloaca …)

Q3)        Frogs with warts are usually know as which ‘T’?
A3)        Toads.

Q4)        What ‘T’ is a young frog?
A4)        A tadpole.   Apparently, they’re also called pollywogs …

Q5)        Finally … ?   Frogs eggs are usually called frog what: spawn, spay or spurt?
A5)        Frog spawn.
Here’s a thought …
“Richard Burton was Welsh; Tom Jones is Welsh, and we Welshmen like to think of ourselves as heroes - on screen and off!”
Timothy Dalton, born 21 March 1946.
And a song …

The next ten question set is on the 3rd April: it’s about 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

Cheers, Olga, I’ve got that corrected.   I missed copying the answers as the set ran to two pages: and I missed the last line!
There’s a HELL of a lot of food stalls at that festival: the sausages look a lot healthier than the average hot dog, I know that.

‡        Actually, it sort of was, Irene: a trick question, that is.   You’re supposed to have been looking at it, and thinking “It’s not that easy, is it?”

§        Oh, dear … messaging apps!   I swear, they’re like video editing apps, Debbi: they’s all over the place!
Did you know Harry Harrison was a fan of Esperanto?   And that the Stainless Steel Rat spoke the language?   (If I remember the original book, correctly, the Rat was an atheist: and saw that as a good reason for not murdering people.   A murder victim had no heaven to go to …)

Oh, butifarra (o botifarra, if you prefer the Spanish spelling) is much thicker than a sausage. They are typical from Catalonia, and traditionally they are eating with white beans (seques o mongetes seques).

Oh, the birds seem to be busy bringing little branches and getting the nest in good shape, so one wonders if they intend to stay for a while.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
