Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-5-2025 — The Illuminati

1st May, 2025: The Illuminati.

It has to be said … I’m annoyed at someone.

And, no, before you ask: I’m not saying who or why.

But I can safely say I went for a nice healthy stroll, last night.

As I’ve found that’s a good way of calming down: a better way — for me — than having a beer.

That’s not a safe option for me.

~≈🍺≈~

Right at the moment … ?

I have a 4k copy of The Terminator, copying onto my system.

I’m pleased.

I don’t think the database I’ve had to install helped: instead, I think the information dumps I sent in helped to update the software’s relevant decryption keys.

Whatever’s happened?

I’m pleased: at least I’ve got a good start to the day.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ and putting in their answers: with Olga, Debbi and Mum scoring five out of five, and Irene on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s five question set, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        The Illuminati were founded on 1st May.   Of which year of the 1770s?

Q2)        The group was founded in the Electorate of where: Bavaria, Brandenburg or Bohemia?

Q3)        The group used the Owl of Minerva as a symbol.   Minerva was a goddess from where: Ancient Rome, Ancient Greece or Ancient China?

Q4)        “Illuminati” is a 2014 song by whom: Peter Gabriel, Madonna or Dua Lipa?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Illuminatus! Trilogy was first published in which year of the 1970s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        30th April is Camarón Day.   For whom: the SAS, the French Foreign Legion or the Navy Seals?
A1)        The French Foreign Legion.

Q2)        30th April, 1985, saw the birth of Israeli actress, Gal Gadot.   Who did she play in Batman vs Superman?
A2)        Wonderwoman.

Q3)        Johnny Galecki was born on 30th April, 1975.   In which series did he play Leonard Hofstadter?
A3)        The Big Bang Theory.

Q4)        Kirsten Dunst was born on 30th April, 1982.   She played Mary Jane Watson in three Spider-man movies.   Who played Spider-man in those movies: Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield or Tom Holland?
A4)        Tobey Maguire.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Lars Von Trier was born on 30th April, 1956.   He’s from which European country?
A5)        Denmark.
Here’s a thought …
“The society’s stated goals were to oppose superstition, obscurantism, religious influence over public life, and abuses of state power.”
From the Wikipedia entry on the Illuminati.
And a song …

The next ten question set will be on 15th May: it’s about Mike Oldfield.

Your answers will be published tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        You’re right, Olga: nuclear reactors don’t have a good reputation.   I get the impression Chernobyl, Three Mile Island and Silkwood didn’t do them any favours.   As I recall?   The slogan doing the rounds in the 1980s was “The only safe fast breeders are rabbits!”
I think, though, there was talk that something called ‘interconnectors’ had suffered in the extreme weather for the time of year: plugs had melted, in other words.   I’m betting that’s a bigger factor than cyberwarfare …
At any rate … ?   I think privatisation’s much like nationalisation: there’s pros and cons for both.

        Hello, Mum … !

Morning, Irene: nice to see you back … !

§        It’s been a while since I’ve done a few things, Debbi.   We can only be grateful for the little things.

I hope we learn what happened, more than anything so that it doesn’t happen again.
And I hope you’re feeling less annoyed. I agree with you. Walking is very therapeutic.
Oh, I won’t be around much these days. I had told you already that one of my cousins and his wife were visiting my other cousin and they were planning on coming tomorrow in the afternoon. Now, my friend Iman, the nurse who lives in Paris and I used to visit before mother got unwell, and whom I accompanied to Alexandria a couple of times, suddenly decided to come with her family for a few days, and they’re arriving tonight and leaving on Monday morning. Her daughter (my god-daughter) is also celebrating her birthday tomorrow, and I am sure we’ll be spending time together (as much as circumstances allow), so I won’t have time for anything. I already warned them at the radio station, so they won’t count on me these days.

    2. Bavaria
    3. Ancient Rome

She’s left them here, as she’s having issues logging in.

If any one can offer suggestions, it could help …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
