Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29-5-2025 — International Day of United Nations Peace Keepers

29th May, 2025: International Day of United Nations Peace Keepers.

Right …

I’ve only a few quid left.

But … ?

I’ve managed to get a couple of posters printed: to try and advertise my sister’s Chromebook.

Hopefully: those will help.

At least, once I’ve got the black-and-white ones placed: there’s usually a couple of shops that help.

Here’s hoping … !

Here’s the ad.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Mum on nine.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed question set, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        29th May is the International Day of United Nations Peace Keepers.   UN Peacekeeping operations are organised by the UN’s what of Peace Operations: Department, Organisation or Secretariat?

Q3)        As an alternative to helmets, UN Peacekeepers usually wear what.

Q4)        UN peacekeeping operations started in which year of the 1940s?

Q5)        Finally … ?   There’s an award given posthumously to UN peacekeepers.   It’s named after whom: Dag Hammarskjöld, U Thant or Kurt Waldheim?

Q2)        At the time of writing, the pair last played on which date in 2025: 15th March, 16th March or 17th March … ?

A9)        Celtic.

Q10)        Finally … ?   The teams play which sport: Football, Rugby Union, Rugby League or Baseball?
A10)        Football.
Here’s a thought …
“The peacekeeping force as a whole received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1988.”
From the Wikipedia entry of the history of UN peacekeepers.
And a documentary …

The next ten question set is on 11th June: it’s about E. T.: The Extraterrestrial

Comments and answers will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Yeah: I knew about the 4th May fixture, Olga: that’s why I phrased the question with the ‘At The Time Of Writing’ warning.   The set was written on 13th April: looking back, I could’ve done it differently.
Fingers are crossed: as are legs, toes and arms.   Is it me, Olga, or is typing getting difficult … ?

†        Hello, Mum!   (Apparently, today is the 75th birthday of The Archers: they were talking about it on the Today programme.)

‘Dang’?   You don’t hear the word over here, Debbi!   It’s an excuse to play “Jam on Revenge”: it makes extensive use of the word …

  2. Q1) Department

    Q2) Blue

    Q3) Berets

Q4) I am not sure about this one. The department was founded in 194, but their first peacekeeping mission was in 1948, so it is probably 1948...

    Q5) Dag Hammarskjöld
I hope the posters work, although I couldn't access them, because Facebook insisted I had to choose some settings for advertising. If I don't want to advertise anything, only see other people's ads, I don't know why I should. I am sure they are good. Good luck!

  3. I don't use it a lot, actually. It's kind of old-fashioned. :)

I just sat in on a very interesting online discussion about the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and AI, if you can believe that.

    Remember: Don't panic. :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
