Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 16th June 2025

16th June, 2025.

I’m up early, again!

Yay!

As ever, I’m off to my weight management group.

And, after the weight going up, last week … ?

I’m hoping it’s down, this week!

Ho … … … Hum … !

~≈Ω≈~

That said … ?

I’m going to be getting some exercise, today.

Because … ?

I’ve got diabetic blood test … again.

Hopefully?

They won’t get lost in the system: and I’ll remember to not leave my spectacles there … !

~≈α≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Debbi‡ and Irene§ putting in their answers: with Olga, Debbi and Irene scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s unthemed question set, shall we?

Here it is, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        16th June is the feast day of Saint Curig of Llangurig.   Where is Llangurig: England, Northern Ireland, Wales or Scotland?

Q2)        16th June is the UN sponsored International Day of Family what?

Q3)        Yazdegerd 3rd ascended the throne: on 16th June, AD632.   The throne of which ancient empire: Persia, China or Roman … ?

Q4)        A Papal Conclave started on 16th June, 1846.   Who was elected Pope as a result: Pius 8th, Pius 9th or Pius 10th?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Astronomy Picture of the Day website went into operation on 16th June.   Of which year of the 1990s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Internet Explorer was retired: on 15th June, 2022.   What replaced it on PCs: Edge, Chrome or Safari?
A1)        Edge: or Microsoft Edge, to give it it’s full name.

Q2)        Internet Explorer is a what: browser, image editor or media player?
A2)        Web browsers.

Q3)        Internet Explorer explores what: the internet, the web or peer to peer networks?
A3)        The web.   (It’s a specific, easy to use, part of the ’net: not the whole ’net.   It, and the various P2P networks, are part of the ’net: not all of it.)

Q4)        Internet Explorer was introduced in which year of the 1990s?
A4)        1995.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Internet Explorer was made by whom: Microsoft, Apple or Google?
A5)        Microsoft.
Here’s a thought …
“You know my hobby—and I married them all.”
Stan Laurel, 16 June 1890 – 23 February 1965.
A song that marks drummer, Ian Mosley, of Marillion …

And an earworm …

The next ten question set is on 26th June: it’s about Harry Potter.

Comments and answers will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

I did in the end, Olga!   And I’m feeling a lot better for it!   The only problem, now … ?   Is how knackered I’m going to be, when I get back from the hospital, this afternoon!   It never rains, if it can pour!
Oh, did I mention a woman called Blaise Metreweli?   She’s the real world equivalent to Q, in the James Bond movies.   Only she’s been promoted …

‡        Yeah, I did notice that, Debbi.   From what I’ve seen online, Fleetwood Mac do better parades!
It depends on which bridge you mean: there’s one in Arizona I’d like to sell you …

§        You won’t … ?   That’s a shame, Irene: it’s worth the effect, I think.   The soundtrack is great: today’s earworm is from it.   It’s the only time I’ve vampires doing an Irish jig!
Yes, you got five out of five: as did Olga and Debbi.   (Mum got four: we call her Four Square Freda!)
Actually, Irene, the chap that plays Don Draper crops up in Good Omens: he plays the Angel Gabriel.

It was about time to have a woman in charge. I only wish she was called Modesty Blaise! (I'm not a big fan of the movie, but my grandmother used to collect all kinds of books, and she had some of those that were published here to turn into two books, and I liked the stories. I still do).
I hope everything goes well today. Tomorrow the radio is celebrating a sports party (they do it every year, with the sports team giving awards to the local teams that have achieved something worth mentioning this year, also individual players, anniversaries... Well, to tell you the truth, most teams get some sort of recognition or other), and I'll be helping out (mostly with the snacks and drinks afterwards). If you're not into sports it isn't very interesting, but anything that encourages local teams is a good thing...

  5. You do realize, of course, that the sloppy marching was intentional.

No one in the Army really wanted to be there. :) Sad, isn't it?

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
