Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th September 2025.

11th September, 2025.

Yay!

It’s Thursday!

Which means I’m going to be watching TV, tonight.

I’ll be watching “New Life and New Civilizations”, the last episode of this series of Star Trek: Strange New World.

Some of the clips look interesting …

~≈🕰️≈~

There’s a conservative activist in the United States: called Charlie Kirk.

Or, at least, there was.

He was shot, yesterday.

My condolences go to his family.

But … ?

From the little I know, he’d been a very Conservative Christian, and a vocal supporter of gun ownership rights.

So, to me?

It seems ironic that he’s been shot.

And a very good example of Matthew 26:52;
“Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.”
~≈🗡️≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Henry Hudson landed on Manhattan Island on 11th September, 1609.   It’s now part of which US city?

Q2)        After a referendum, 11th September saw Scotland vote for what: independence, a devolved parliament or an independent currency?

Q3)        The Father of All Bombs, the most powerful conventional bomb on Earth, was tested on 11th September, 2007.   By which nation: Russia, the USA or China?

Q4)        11th September, 2025 is 20 qiyue, 4722.   In which calendar: the Jewish calendar, the Mayan Long Count or the Chinese lunar calendar?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest finished on 11th September, AD9.   How many Roman legions were lost during the battle: two, three or four?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        10th September is the feast day of Saint Aubert of Avranches.   The diocese of Avranches is where: France, Germany or Portugal?
A1)        France.   It’s now the diocese of Coutances.

Q2)        Thomas Wolsey was made a cardinal on 10th September, 1515: by Leo 10th.   He was also Lord High Chancellor of England under which monarch: Henry 7th, Henry 8th or Elizabeth 1st?
A2)        Henry 8th.

Q3)        The First individual World Speedway Final was held on 10th September, 1936.   At which London stadium: Highbury, Wembley Stadium or Selhurst Park.
A3)        Wembley Stadium.

Q4)        Kazan was captured on 10th September, 1918: during the Russian Civil War.   Captured by what’s whom: the Red Army, Blue Army or Green Army?

Q5)        Finally … ?   10th September is Teachers Day.   Where: Chile, China or Colombia?
A5)        China.
Here’s a thought …
“In English eyes, all foreigners are sinister.”
Herbert Lom, 11 September 1917 – 27 September 2012.
And a song …

The next ten question set is on 14th September: it’s about the actor, Sam Neill.

omments will be published, tomorrow morning.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I think we’re missed a link, there, Olga!   But, yeah: not having enough hands can be unhelpful, can’t it?   I’m not going to mention three armed barstaff.   Or Zaphod Beeblebox.   (Can you tell Zaphod to use tongs, please?   Cross contamination and all that!)

Hello, Mum!   (I think you missed out ‘Wembley’, Mum … !)

Cheers for that, Debbi … !
Did anyone mention Fritz’s Leiber’s version of Death to you?   In his Swords of Lakhmar series?   The way Leiber described his version of the character, always made me think of Rowen Atkinson.   And I think Sir Terry based Ankh Morpork on Lankhmar.
About the video I’ve shown Olga?   Can you tell Zaphod to use tongs, please?
        Oh, the truck’s on route … … … …

I didn't realise until later that your blog stripped all the format off the answers, as I had inserted the link beforehand (because I copy the questions and writes the answers in a document beforehand) and it made it disappear.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
