Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-11-2025 — World Television Day

21st November, 2025: World Television Day.

It has to be said: I’m feeling quiet …

Which is odd for me.

Or possibly not: given recent news.

With that said … ?

Gill Veail — Trevor’s sister — has asked me to thank everyone that’s passed on their condolences, after his recent death.

Thank you: you know who you are.

~≈💐≈~

It’s officially official: I have the sun in my eyes.

Which is what happens on a sunny day, when you buy cheap blinds!

Or, at least, have cheap blinds … on a sunny day.

Either way … ?

I can’t complain too much.

Yes, it’s a cold day … but yes, it’s also payday.

Which means I can do something positive.

Like shop … !

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, Debbi on four and Mum on three.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s televisual questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        21st November is World Television Day.   Who’s the patron saint of television: Thomas Aquinas, Bernardino of Siena or Clair of Assisi?

Q2)        According to the relevant Wikipedia article, television is a broadcast what: medium, monkey or monster?

Q3)        Betamax and VHS could be used to record TV shows.   Betamax and VHS are what: video tape cassettes, USB sticks or optical discs?

Q4)        The Big Four channels — NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox — are major TV channels, where: the UK, USA or Russia?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Al-Jazeera is an Arabic TV company.   Headquartered where: Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Yemen?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        José Antonio Primo de Rivera was executed on 20th November, 1936.   The Falange, the group he founded, was a Fascist group from where: Spain, Portugal or France?
A1)        Spain.

Q2)        20th November, 2025, is a Thursday.   It was last a Thursday, when: 2014, 2015 or 2016?
A2)        2014.

Q3)        20th November is World Children’s Day.   The UN issued the Declaration of the Rights of the Child on 20th November of which year: 1957, 1959 or 1961?
A3)        1959.

Q4)        Former MP, John Prescott, died on 20th November, 2024.   He was known as what: Two Jags, Two Bags or Two Fags?
A4)        Two Jags.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Francisco Franco died on 20th November, 1975.   He’d been dictator of where?
A5)        Spain.   (He was successor to José Antonio Primo de Rivera, as leader of the Falange.)
Here’s a thought …
“Do you realise if it weren’t for Edison we’d be watching TV by candlelight?”
Al Boliska.
And a playlist …

The next ten question set is on 5th December: it’s about The Great Smog!

Your comments will be published, and today’s questions answered, in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The author avoids AI, when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (It was 2014 and 1959, Mum, not 2015 and 1961)

Cheers, Olga: Gill asked me to thank you and Mum and Debbi.   She was also impressed — if impressed is the right word — with yesterday’s intro.   I was happy to hear that …

Just so you know, Debbi, the answer for Q1, yesterday, was ‘Spain’, rather than ‘The Falange’.
At any rate … ?   I know what you mean: regret’s a funny old thing, isn’t it?   At any rate, Trevor’s going to be missed …
Talking of computers?   Can you access BBC Sounds, there?   Today’s edition of Desert Island Disc will interest you: the guest is Sir Tim Berners-Lee …

  1. That’s a thought, @Debbi: this will interest you.

John Lydon, Glen Matlock, Paul Cook, Sid Vicious and Steve Jones all get a mention.

    I can’t think why …

I'm sure Trevor's sister is busy enough with her loss and having to deal with everything. Even when you know somebody is not well, it doesn't mean you're prepared for how you'll feel when they go.
    Take it easy.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
