Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26th November 2025.

26th November, 2025.

Right: it’s officially Wednesday.

And … ?

It’s going to be a quiet morning in.

Because … ?

I have my annual gas safety check, this morning.

That’s assuming I’ve filled in all the forms, correctly!

~≈👷🏻‍♂️≈~

I have to admit: I notice things on the BBC’s news site.

One that caught my eye, yesterday?

Was this piece: that tells me Justice Secretary, David Lammy, is planning to drop jury trials for all but the most serious offences.

I’m no expert, and very aware the justice system is struggling.

But I’m not sure I like the idea.

After all, the right to a jury trial, a trial before a jury consisting of one’s peers?

Is an ancient one.

And, I believe, a fair one.

Much fairer than being tried by a judicial kangaroo …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s Saintly questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        HMT Rohna was sunk on 26th November, 1943.   During which war?

Q2)        The heaviest rainfall ever recorded — one and a half inches in the space of a minute — took place on 26th November, 1970: in the town of Basse-Terre.   Where is Basse-Terre: Curaçao, Guadeloupe or Martinique?

Q3)        The Insight probe landed on Elysium Planitia on 26th November, 2018.   Where is Elysium Planitia: the Moon, Mars or Venus?

Q4)        26th November is Constitution Day in India.   The country’s constitution came into effect in which years of the 1950s?

Q5)        Finally … ?   26th November is the feast day of Saint Bellinus of Padua.   Bellinus is usually prayed to if you’re trying to ward off what: tuberculosis, rabies or syphilis?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        25th November is the feast day of Saint Catherine of Alexandria.   Which firework is named after her: the Catherine Wheel, the Roman Candle or the Sparkler?
A1)        The Catherine Wheel.

Q2)        One of Catherine’s symbols is a what: breaking wheel, candle or hearth?
A2)        A breaking wheel.

Q3)        Alexandria — the city Catherine is a saint of — is in which North African country … ?
A3)        Egypt.

Q4)        The Episcopal Church commemorates Saint Catherine on the 24th November.   The Episcopal Church is an Anglican Church, where: the USA, Mexico or French Guiana?
A4)        The USA.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Catherine is a patron saint of the State of Santa Catarina.   That state is in which South American country?
A5)        Brazil.
Here’s a thought …
“Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.”
From an article written by the late Cyril Connolly, (10 September 1903 – 26 November 1974) for The New Statesman.
And a Rita Ora song …

The next ten question set is on 5th December: it’s about The Great Smog!

Your comments will be published, and today’s questions answered, in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The author avoids AI, when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

It was a bit of a bad one, Debbi!   Still, it’s a bit of a learning experience …
Now … talking of the President … ?   It seems Steve Witkoff, the US envoy, has been briefing the Russians on how to deal the President.   Deal is possibly the wrong word: “buttering up” is the term to use …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
