Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11-2-2026 — Leslie Nielsen

11th February, 2026: Leslie Nielsen.

Yes: that’s right.

Today’s introduction video, the one at the start of this post … ?

Is actually vaguely relevant.

I’ve got a cheap toaster on order, from Amazon.

One that cost me a tenner: including the delivery charges.

There’s a problem, though.

It’s something I’ve ordered from Amazon: did you honestly expect me not to have a problem?

At any rate … ?

YouGov sent me a survey, yesterday, which earned me fifty pound (£50): enough to buy a toaster, and have a little left to get some shopping.

So … ?

I order a cheap — seriously cheap — toaster: figuring I’d be able to replace the thing, easily, should I need to.

I order the thing, hit the relevant ‘Buy Now’ button, and get told it will be with me, by Friday, 20th February.

Then get an update, a little later: to tell me the toaster’s been ordered … and will arrive on Friday, 20th March.

Yes: Friday, 20th March.

I’m tempted to say “You couldn’t make it up”.

No, really: I’m sorely tempted to say “You couldn’t make it up”.

Except I’ve got the evidence it’s genuine, sitting right in front of me.

I’ve also got evidence of an annoyed email I’ve sent: to Jeff Bezos.

A thirty-eight day wait seems a bit ridiculous: and tells me I should go to Argos, next time*.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Actor, Leslie Nielsen was born on 11th February.   Of which year of the 1920s?

Q2)        He was born, where: Canada, the USA or Mexico?

Q3)        He played Commander John J. Adams in which film: Forbidden Planet, Earth vs the Flying Saucers or Godzilla, King of the Monsters!?

Q4)        He played Lieutenant Frank Drebin.   In which TV series: The Lieutenant, CSI: Miami or Police Squad!?

Q5)        Finally … ?   He played Lieutenant Frank Drebin.   In which film: Forbidden Planet, Airplane! or The Naked Gun?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        10th February is World Pulses Day.   According to whom: the United Nations, the Arab League or the European Union?
A1)        The United Nations.

Q2)        Pulses are technically what: bulbs, seeds or tubers?
A2)        Seeds.

Q3)        Pulses are also known as which ‘L’?
A3)        Legumes.

Q4)        Pulses are ‘dihiscent’.   In other words, when they open, they open along which ‘S’?
A4)        A seam.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Many pulses fix nitrogen into the soil.   In other words, they turn dinitrogen (N₂) into what: ammonia, ammonium nitrate or hydrogen hydroxide?
A5)        Ammonia.   (Hydrogen hydroxide, H₂O, is also called water …)
Here’s an observation …

“Doing nothing is very hard to do … you never know when you’re finished.”
Leslie Nielsen.

And a cider advert with Hank Marvin …

The next ten question set is on Saturday: it’s about YouTube.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        In Amazon’s defence?   They did something similar with the air fryer: then delivered it earlier than quoted.   They could make their delivery estimates a little more accurate …

        Hello, Mum!

‡        Talking of Star Trek, Debbi, there’s a new series out: Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.   I’m not going to watch it until I’ve got Stranger Things out of the way, but everyone’s been talking about episode five.

Oh, don't get me started with Amazon. One of the main issues is that some of the articles, even if they are not theirs, they have in their storage units, and those they deliver very quickly, but the items that are delivered by the companies or they don't have in their stores... I don't think they have a lot of control over, but they should warn people about it at the time of ordering, because it can make a difference. Of course, most of the things I order these days are from the Amazon Vine programme, but the delivery has the same issues...

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
