London 2012

You know, I’ve said this before, and I’ll possibly say this again.

But I’m no sports fan.

But as I write this, it’s been officially confirmed: that the Great Britain team at this year’s 30th Olympiad — oh, all right, the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games — has come third in the medal table.

And, while I’m not usually one for being patriotic — having grown up during the 1970s when right wing hate groups like the National Front were around, I’ve always found too much flag waving to be vaguely suspicious — I have to admit, I’m quietly feeling rather proud of the fact my country’s achievement.

Not just in coming third: although that’s something, when you consider that only the USA and China are ahead of us.

But also — in these austere times  — in being able to stage them in the first place.

Well …

I think I’m happy about it.

Let’s hope Britain’s home football teams pick up a few hints … !

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
