The Daily Teaser — 2-12-2012

Oh …

I’ve got to admit, I’ve got the BBC’s News channels on, at the mo: mostly where I can’t be bothered to turn over, as yet.

And, although I’m not usually a sports fan, I do like to try and keep an eye on the snooker.

The UK Championship’s on at the mo.   And two time winner, Ding Junhui has been knocked out in the first round … !

If I’m any judge, though … ?   China’s finest will be back for that title, and a go at the World championship, next year.

Let’s move on, shall we?

~~~~~
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mr Strict putting in his answers: AND bagging five out of 5.
Let’s see how he — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we?
Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …
Q1) 2nd December, 2001, saw which company file for bankruptcy … ?
Q2) More to the point, in which Texan city was it based … ?
Q3) Two years earlier, 2nd December, 1999, saw what — within the UK — take power … ?
Q4) 2nd December, 1954, saw the US Senate censure who, for conduct unbecoming a senator … ?
Q5) And FINALLY … 2nd December, 1939, saw the opening of which New York airport … ?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 1st December is World AIDS Day: what is AIDS an acronym for … ?   A1) Acquired Immuno-deficiency Syndrome.
Q2) What’s the name of the virus that causes AIDS … ?   A2) HIV: or Human Immunodeficiency Virus, if you want it in full.   (Which is an unfortunate way of phrasing it, now I look at it … )
Q3) What’s the most frequent form of AIDS infection: mother-to-child, contaminated body fluids or sexual infection.   A3) Sexual infection.
Q4) In which year of the 1960s was the first confirmed case of AIDS … ?   A4) Believe it or not, in 1969.
Q5) And finally … in which year did Rock Hudson die as a result of AIDS … ?   A5) 1985.
Enjoy those, everyone.
I’ll leave you with this quote from the late Marty Feldman …
“Hookers have to deliver on their promise... unlike politicians.”
Marty Feldman  8 July 1934 – 2 December 1982
And, as a nod to Naughty by Nature frontman, Trench, I give you OPP …
Have a good day … !
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
