The Daily Teaser — 6-5-2013: The Bank Of England

That’s a bit of a worry.

Seemingly, over in the US, a group called Defence Distributed, has made a working gun: and fired it.

A working gun from plastic part produced on an easily obtainable — with the right money — three-d printer.

Please notice the easily obtainable bit.

What’s more, the chap running the group … ?   Plans to make the plans easily accessibly on the Web.

I’m … unnerved … to be frank.   Cody Williams, who heads the group, SAYS that he believes that you should be able to own anything you want: which is why he’s planning to make them accessible.

In this case, I’m going to disagree.   I believe he shouldn’t: and believe Internet Service Providers should block the designs where-ever they turn up.   We’re talking about a gun, here, not a hooky video or laptop.

Yes, he’s given me a way to own a gun and kill someone.   Sorry, defend myself.   He’s ALSO given that same ability to crook with the brains to find and use a three-d printer.   There’s a few of them.

Personally … ?   Mr Williams has a good point that we, as consumers, should be able to own what we want.   I personally ALSO feel that doesn’t include guns.

Right … Rant over … Let’s move on …
