Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1-7-2025 — Quebec (Ten Questions)

1st July, 2025: Quebec.

Right …

It’s official.

It’s just gone 7:30 on a July morning.

And … ?

The thermostat in the hallway is telling me it’s 26.5℃ in here.

The weather’s going to get warmer.

And … ?

I think I’m going to get sweatier, today … !

Ho … hum … !

You know, tech news is something that interests me.

So does the gossip.

Something that did catch my attention?

Is the gossip that says that Apple are potential going to be introduction a model of MacBook Air — their lightweight laptop — with an A18 processor.

The processor that powers recent models of iPhones.

There’s possibly a couple of points, there.

I know that — when he rejoined the company in the 1990s — former CEO, Steve Jobs, culled a lot of Mac models: so the company could reduce manufacturing costs

Will this leave the company vulnerable?

I don’t know: but it’s something the management team may need to keep their eyes on.

The other?

Is that the possible model is supposed to be the new low-end, cheap, option.

Roughly equivalent to the current £999 option.

Will that work for them?

Would that appeal to those who would otherwise buy a cheap Windows machine?

Or a Chromebook?

We’ll have to see: a lot of that appeal will come down to price-point …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

I think Trevor’s placement may be permanent, Olga: I’m not too sure, though.   We’ll have to see …
The appointments went well enough: although I’m glad they were both yesterday: it was cooler.   By maybe a degree or two … !   My front room is now at 27℃.   Given payday is a while away, I’m not going to be able to get a fan for a while.   (Stay cool!)
I have to admit, I didn’t see or hear the band’s performance, either.   I do know two things, though.   The BBC’s getting a lot of flack for airing it on the live stream: and the band members have had their US tour visas withdrawn …

You’re digging up a few fans, Debbi!   The film it’s based on is set in Edinburgh, I don’t know if you want to mention the Feeglespotting t-shirt to him … !

Do try and keep cool. Here the temperature was over 30 degrees early in the morning, and it is boiling hot. There are places where one can go to feel a bit cooler (climate shelters), but you still need to get there, and that can be tricky if you're trying to avoid the sun and the heat.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
