Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2nd July 2025.

2nd July, 2025.

Right … it’s officially official.

Yesterday was the hottest day of the year, so far.

By contrast?

And thankfully?

Today is roughly ten degrees cooler.

And we have rain!

Granted, I’ll be getting wet, when I co out.

But?

I’m not going to boil … !

~≈🌧️≈~

Did I mention I’ve caught the first couple of episodes of Max Headroom?

The US science fiction show, rather than the UK music show that introduced the character.

I’m possibly going to keep watching it: just so I can say I’ve seen it.

But?

It may have been exciting at the time.

But the cyberpunk effort — filtered through a Miami Vice feel, bad soap acting and a retro-VHS look that should have been cleaned up before its DVD release — is …

Well, it’s not necessarily stunning.

If nothing else, though … ?

Matt Frewer as Edison Carter/Max, is good.

And Max, himself, is as subversive as ever: especially in his outros at the end of the episodes …

Those make the thing worth watching … !

~≈📺≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Olga, Debbi and Irene scoring ten out of ten, and Mum on nine.

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

Climate shelters?   They sound like a good idea, Olga: assuming you can get there safely!   I’m assuming they’re air-conditioned air-raid shelters, is that right … ?
No, hang on … !   I used to work in pubs!   Old fashioned beer cellars, the chilled, underground ones, would be ideal.   Depending on if people feel comfortable sitting on barrels!

Morning, Irene!   Today’s music has an Explicit Content warning, so you know!

§        Yeah, I just got the email alert about that, Debbi.   I’ve just re-subscribed, there: so hopefully, that will show up soon … !

  2. Q1) horse race. I imagine it must be incredibly crowded today, but I visited Siena a few years back, and it is beautiful and definitely worth a visit.

    Q2) the Coptic Orthodox Church

Q3) the War of the Three Kingdoms

    Q4) World War 1

Q5) John Paul the Second (although it seems that the excommunication was rescinded by Pope Benedict XVI)
Good to know you have a cooler day today. Here we are under a yellow warning for heat today and tomorrow, although from Sunday the temperature is supposed to go down a bit, especially in the evening, and that helps with the sleep, otherwise it's a nightmare.
No, the climate shelters here are not air-raid shelters, but, rather, all kinds of spaces (not only buildings, because some lush gardens with lots of greenery and shades as well) usually belonging to the city or under their managements, that are air-conditioned and they advertise them as such, so you are supposed to be able to go there and have a break from the heat, even if you aren't doing any particular activities there (because they might be museums, schools, libraries, civic centres where you can do courses), archives, markets, swimming pools...)
    Here it explains...

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
