Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th July, 2025.
9th July, 2025.
Right … I had free time, yesterday: as the workmen I was expecting couldn’t make it.
In exchange? And as a result of the phone appointment I had with a locus GP at my surgery?
I had to head into town to chat to my doctor in person.
As a result?
I had to wee into a pot: so the doctor could check my urine,
Apparently, that’s OK.
I am also going to have to poo in a pot: so I can post off a stool sample.
The older I get … ?
The more life turns yummy!

Did I mention I’ve been watching various episodes of Max Headroom?
The US series, rather than the original British show.
The thing can be surprising.
A few nights ago, I saw Robert O’Reilly — who Star Trek fans will remember as Gowron, the Klingon Chancellor — turn up in the first season, as a media savvy terrorist.
It was the eyeball thing he does: it’s very distinctive … !
But he wasn’t the last Star Trek alumni to crop up in Max Headroom.
Rosalind Chao — Keiko O’Brian — turned up in last night’s episode: playing a junior journalist.
You know, actor spotting could be a new game!

On a related note … ?
That particular episode, Deities, was very good: and saw Edison Carter and the team investigating a dubious church: one that’s offering a dubious form of resurrection in return for a lot of money.
And manage to kidnap Max, in an effort to steal the technology that powers him.
Or, at least, turn him into a televangelist!
It’s well worth a watch.
For no other reason than this: the earlier scenes, the ones with Rosalind Chao, manage to convincingly present Edison and the team as a group of journalists, discussing the stories they’re going to chase.
That’s quite something!

Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga†, Irene‡ and Debbi§ putting in their answers: with Olga, Irene and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s [insert number here] question set, shall we?
Q3)The first test match between South Africa and Australia was played on 8th July, 1933. The match in question was a game of what: rugby union, cricket or netball?
Q5)Finally … ? Actor, Jeffrey Tambor, was born on 8th July, 1944. He plays an unnamed medical examiner in an episode of which series: Kojak, Starsky and Hutch or Hill Street Blues?
† It’s funny you should mention dogs, Olga: there’s a five question set about Rin Tin Tin due on 10th August! I’ve almost finished the video for it: and used both ‘Barking Dog’ sound effects in the process. I might have to get an extra one if I do a set about Lassie!
Tambor also crops up in Max Headroom, Olga: he plays the main character’s boss. He’s also facing allegations …
It sounds like your schedule’s as busy as mine! But, yes, you’re right: having dates is good!
‡ Morning, Irene: how IS the day … ?
§ Probably works out to the same distances as my local shop, Debbi: especially on my legs!
How was the filming … ? (Oh, did I mention the new series of Foundation drops on Friday: Lee Pace, as Brother Day, is the slimiest piece of work!)
Q5) China I look forward to that set, Paul. Thankfully, the temperature is milder today, especially in the evenings, so I managed to sleep a bit more than usual these days.
Ah, well. The filming went fine. Until one of our actors became dizzy from the heat. I put an explanation up on FB. We had shut things down. But hopefully, it will just be a temporary pause. The actor is fine, but we want to take things slowly.

And, by the time I got home, I was fairly cream crackered. :)
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
