That’s obscure … unless you’re a Terry Pratchett fan* … !

Right …
I have — with a lot of help! — cured the overheating that’s been plaguing my Mac, every morning.
There’s was a lot of overheating caused by caused by processes called corespotlightd and spotlightknowledge.updater: and solved by deleting the contents of ~/Library/Metadata/CoreSpotlight/.
As far as I can tell?
The processes are where Spotlight is having trouble indexing my system: and seem to be triggered by Pages documents interact with iCloud drives access through a desktop Mac.
In my case?
It first seemed to be caused by updating to macOS 26.2,
Which is when I reset things, the first time.
It did it again: after I updated to macOS 26.5.1.
I can’t help but think Spotlight updates its index, as a result of an update: and — in some cases — going wrong as a result.
If someone can confirm that? I’d appreciate it!

Let’s move on.
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Mum on six.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1)11th June, 2026, sees the start of the 2026 World Cup. It’s the biggest tournament in which sport: football, Rugby Union or snooker?
A1)Football. (If I’ve understood things correctly, the World Cup is one of the two biggest sporting events on the planet: in terms of audience, revenue or participating nations. The other one is the Summer Olympics.)
Q2)It’s being hosted by sixteen cities. Sixteen cities, where: North America, South America or Africa?
The next 10 question sets are on 1st July, 4th July and 5th July: they’re about New Brunswick, Independence Day and Nemesis the Warlock.
Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’sTeaser.
AI is avoided when writing these questions.
Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* It’s my attempt to turn the phrase ‘Millennium Hand And Shrimp’ into a set of emojis you can put on a t-shirt. The expression is a catchphrase for one of the Discworld’s recurring characters.
Apparently, Sir Terry ‘made’ the phrase by feeding a Chinese takeaway menu, and the lyrics of a They Might Be Giants song, into a random phrase generator.
I can’t help but wonder what he would think of large language models. I think he’d be interested in how the technology worked. But also be saying “You’re using my books in your model, aren’t you? Am I getting paid for that?”.
†Hello, Mum! (It’s 48, Argentina and 1998, Mum, rather than 64, France and 1986. The debuting countries are Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan and Uzbekistan.)
‡ That’s putting it mildly, Debbi! (Did you know Steve Wozniak co-developed the original Breakout game? If I recall, his version would say ‘Bummer’ when you lost a life.)

Well, Tom Baker's still with us. As far as I know. :)
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
