Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6-6-2026 — Stranded at the Drive In

6th June, 2026: Drive-In Saturday.

Right … it’s officially Saturday: and I’m bored and frustrated!

Bored … as it’s the weekend.

I’ve been persistently trying to contact BT: to re-arrange my broadband connection.

I managed to contact them, yesterday.

To find that my original request hadn’t gone through, as they had me listed at the wrong address: Number one, instead of number two.

And that they would be contacting me this coming Friday, to give me a date for the upgrade.

That’s …

Frustrating.

Especially as it’s now the weekend: which means I have to wait until Monday, before I can chase this up!

Arrrgh!

~≈🛜≈~

The other frustrating thing … ?

My Mac’s seems to be stuck in a permanent bout of overheating: something seemingly caused — according to the bundled Activity Monitor app — by a process called corespotlightd.

As per suggestions on Apple’s Community Support pages, installing Macs Fan Controls seems to help deal with the temperature.

But is dealing with a symptom — the overheating — rather than the problem: which, as far as I can see, is how the Mac’s Spotlight feature deals with the location of Pages files.

I get the impression this is going to take a long time to solve …

~≈🥵≈~

Yesterday was sad: as the death of actor, Anthony Stewart Head: best remembered as Giles, in Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, as Uther Pendragon in Merlin, and from a series of coffee adverts, back in the day.

Apparently?

He died of complications of pneumonia, at the age of seventy-two.

It’s sad … especially as — from the little I know — the condition is eminently treatable … !

It’s … well …

Sad …

The man will be much missed.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

A5)        Secretary of State for Defence.
Here’s a thought …
“I grew up in a drive-in theater, from the time I was 8, working in a snack bar watching four features every week.”
Twyla Tharp.
And a John Travolta song …

The next 10 question sets are tomorrow, the 11th and 12th June and on 1st July: they’re about “The Dreaming City”, the World Cup, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and New Brunswick.

Your comments, and today’s answers, will be published in tomorrow’s Teaser.

AI is avoided when writing these questions.

Answers are as accurate as possible: at the time of writing.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (5/5: well done!)

The milkshake’s probably easier to get, Debbi: especially in some parts of town!

  4. Hey Paul,

Would you mind if I reprinted your teaser for today? It would be a great draw for a movie club.

I just got an idea. You wouldn't by any chance be interested in helping me start an online community?

Is that just nuts? Nutters? lol

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
