The Daily Teaser …

Well, how was the Solstice, for you? I’ve got to be honest, me and Adrian managed to catch “21”, last night. Which was fun.

Or more fun than the traditional pagan ritual of dancing naked around Stonehenge, banging a drum.

Well, there wasn’t the weather, yesterday …

Anyway, here’s today’s questions …

Q1) June 22nd, 1954, saw Pauline Barker, along with her friend, Juliet Hulme, murder her mother, Honora; what was the name of the Peter Jackson film this was turned into?

Q2) June 22nd, 1907, saw the Hampstead Line open on the London Underground; which ‘C’ was the inner London terminal for that line?

Q3) Which ‘C’ — and moon of Pluto — was discovered today, in 1978?

Q4) Virgin Atlantic Airlines took it’s first flight, today in 1984; from which London airport?

Q5) June 22nd saw Galileo forced to recant his view about the Earth moving around the Sun; in which year of the 1630’s?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) June the 21st marks the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere; in which month is the summer solstice, in the southern hemisphere?

A1) December. (June sees the winter solstice, down south.)

Q2) What’s longer, on the summer solstice, day or night?

A2) The day.

Q3) The word ‘solstice’ comes from which language?

A3) Latin.

Q4) What name is given to the dates when days and nights are of equal length?

A4) An equinox.

Q5) Astrologically speaking, June 21st is between two signs; name either.

A5) Gemini and Cancer.

Hope those are fun!

Catch you tomorrow!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
