The Daily Teaser …

Early mornings?

I laugh at early mornings.

He says, going into a heavily ironic mad laugh …

But I shouldn’t, really.

I do know I met Greg, an old friend, at last night’s card game. Who gets shipped out to Afghanistan.

Tomorrow.

Given the British Army’s lost eight troops, over the weekend, that is rather worrying, isn’t it?

It is …

But …

Enough of my worries …

Here’s today’s questions …

Q1) July 13th, 100BC, saw the birth of which Roman Dictator?

Q2) July 13th was the date of the original Live Aid concert; in which year of the 1980s?

Q3) July 13th, 1901 was the birthday of actor, Eric Portman; he, Leo McKern, and Patrick McGoohan all appeared in which cult 1960s series?

Q4) Today in 1878, saw Romania, Montenegro and Serbi become independent of which Empire?

Q5) And finally, today saw the death of the last woman to be hanged in Britain; what was her name?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) The 12th of July sees the traditional Orangeman marches in Northern Ireland; which battle does this commemorate

A1) The Battle of the Boyne.

Q2) In 1962, which British band gave its début performance at London’s Marquee Club?

A2) The Rolling Stones.

Q3) July 12th, 1712, saw the death of which English Lord Protector?

A3) Richard Cromwell, who inherited the job from his father, Oliver.

Q4) July 12th, 1976, saw the birth of actress, Anna Friel; in which soap did she first find fame?

A4) “Brookside”.

Q5) And finally, silent film director, Todd Browning, was born today, in 1880; with which horror movie star did he make ten films?

A5) Lon Chaney, Sr.

Enjoy those. And lets hope that, whatever we think of the situation in Afghanistan, that our friends come back standing upright. (Which explains the Billy Joel video, by the way, Greg’s a fan …)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
