The Daily Teaser …

Woooooah!

We had three people comment, yesterday; that’s a record, for here, and one I’m pleased about!

I don’t know who the anonymous poster was, but I think that might well have been Trevor, or Adrian; or (possibly) @starlingpoet!

Two out of five, whoever you are!

We also had Tim and Sue putting in 5 out of 5 scores. Feel free to do small victory dances, folks!

Anyway, here’s today’s questions …

Q1) 5th October, 1877, saw Chief Joseph surrender his tribe to US Federal forces; which Native American tribe did he lead?

Q2) October 5th, 1936, saw the start of which crusade?

Q3) 5th, October, 1953, saw the first documented meeting of which Twelve Step group?

Q4) In 1947, October the 5th saw President Harry S. Truman make the very first televised what?

Q5) 5th October, 1951, saw the birth of which charitable Irish knight?

Q6) Another birthday; October 5th, 1952, saw the birth of which horror writer? (And if Cindy gets this wrong … !)

Q7) TV, again, October 5th, 1969, saw the first broadcast — by the BBC — of which comedy show?

Q8) Today in 1989, saw which religious leader awarded the Nobel Peace Prize?

Q9) According to the United Nations, today is International World … what … Day?

Q10) And finally, today in 1994 saw 48 bodies of the members of the Order of the Solar Temple, who’d committed mass suicide; in which European country were they found?

Not that the BBC News channel isn’t giving people a big clue about Q7! But here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) October 4th, 1537, saw the publication of the Bible in which language?

A1) English. (It was the Tyndale Bible.)

Q2) October 4th, 1883, saw the very first run of which famous train?

A2) The Orient Express.

Q3) Again on October 4th, 1883, Glasgow played host to the first meeting of which organisation?

Q4) Another first, here; October 4th, 1957, saw Soviet Russia start the Space Race, by launching the world’s first artificial satellite; what was it called?

A4) Sputnik 1. (Just Sputnik’s fine, but … !!)

Q5) And finally, today in 1965, saw who become the first Pope to visit the USA?

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
