The Daily Teaser …

Well, There’s a thing; we had four people, yesterday!

FOUR!

Wow, I’m impressed with meself … !

But I do know I’ll have to be careful, phrasing question’s! As it stands, technically, Andrea, bless her — wave and say hello, Andrea — ends up in second place, despite receiving the Official Clap; I was hoping for the over-arching book title …

Which Trevor* got, straight off; leaving him in first, with Tim, and Officially Applauded New Boy, Davidº, in joint third!

As far as I can find out, guys, Lewis Carroll’s The Comic Book and the Train was a year or so, earlier …

Anyway, let’s move on, shall we? I know Tim’s itching to get the clap … !

Here’s today’s questions, along with the ‘How To’ and the licence

Q1) November 7th, 1921, saw the founding of Partito Nazionale Fascista; the PNF was the fascist party of which European country?

Q2) At the other end of the political spectrum, Communist Prime Minister Willi Stroph — and his entire cabinet — resigned today, in 1989, after huge anti-government protest; but in which (then) country?

Q3) Today in 1917 (October the 25th, in the Julian Calender) saw Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky lead the revolutionaries that overthrew the Provisional Government; but in which which Russian city did they do this?

Q4) 7th November, 1929, saw the opening of the Museum of Modern Art; in which New York borough is it?

Q5) And finally, 7th November, 2000, saw who become the first former First Lady to become a Senator?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Today in 1856, saw which author’s first work accepted for publication?

A1) George Elliot’s.

Q2) More to the point, what was it called?

A2) Scenes of Clerical Life.

Q3) Ten years ago, today, on November 6th, 1999, the people of which country voted against becoming a republic?

A3) Australia.

Q4) November 6th, 1935, saw the first flights of which fighter plane?

A4) The Hawker Hurricane.

Q5) In 1996, November 6th saw who elected to his second term as US President?

A5) Bill Clinton; Teflon Bill, the Come-back Kid, what have you …

Q6) 28 years earlier, 6th November, 1968 saw which tricky character become US President?

A6) Richard Nixon; Tricky Dicky, himself. (Hmmm, Teflon Bill and Tricky Dicky … They’re DJ’s, aren’t they?)

Q7) November 6th is also the feast day of Saint Winnoc. He’s the patron saint of who; millers, carpenters, or firemen?

A7) Millers.

Enjoy those, I’ll catch you later …

* Actually, Trevor managed to dig up a surprising 6th November fact; seems it’s the day in 1865, that saw the last flag lowered in the US Civil War. On the CSS Shenandoah; the only CSS battle flag, and ship, to circumnavigate the world, and it came down, when the Shenandoah was docked … in Liverpool!

º Actually, Tim, you should be able to right-click on the .iso file, open it with Brasero Disc Burner, and burn it from there; we’ve GOT to persuade Dave to not waste his money!!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
