The Daily Teaser …

I just hate these early mornings …

Don’t I just!!

But there we go, that’s the way shifts go, sometimes!

Anyway, yesterday’s Teaser say Andrea get the First-In-Clap, and 6 out of 6.

She not happy at the lack of competition, I know that!

But she still manage to find a relevant quote from Dionne Warwick. Who herself was quoting Maya Angelou’s Still I Rise, which is a fantastic piece of work!

At any rate, here’s today’s questions, along with the Creative Commons License, and ‘How To’ …
Q1) 13th December, 1981, saw both Martial Law, and a State of Emergency, imposed in which East European country?
Q2) More to the point, the leaders of which trade Union were arrested as part of this State of Emergency?
Q3) A few years earlier, 13th December, 1925, saw the birth of which US actor and comedian?
Q4) 13th December, 1939, was the date of the WW2 era Battle of the River Plate: when the HMS Exeter, HMS Ajax and HMNZS Achilles fought which German pocket battleship?
Q5) And finally, December 13th, 2003, saw the capture of which Iraqi politician?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 12th December, 1901, saw which Italian physicist transmit the world’s first wireless signal, across the Atlantic?A1) Guglielmo Marconi.
Q2) For many years, the radio equipment company named after that physicist was based in which Essex town?A2) Chelmsford.
Q3) 12th December, 1940, saw the birth of which African-American singer?A3) Dionne Warwick.
Q4) That singer shares her birthday — on 12th December, in 1931 — with which Canadian born, British dancer, choreographer and TV presenter?A4) Lionel Blair. (Or Henry Lionel Blair Ogus, to give him his birth name: either way, there’s a comment about trousers coming. Or Give Us A Clue …)
Q5) 12th December, 1988, saw 88 people die in a train crash at (what was) Europe’s busiest railway station: what was that station?A5) Clapham Junction.
Q6) And finally: today in 1911 saw which city replace Calcutta as capital city of India?A6) Delhi.
Enjoy those, everyone! I’ll catch you later!

I didn't have time to write poetry before, but now I have had the time to become a poet.

  3. I think I’m with you, there, Andrea!

Actually, I think I’m with BOTH of you!

I mean, The X Factor, what is it with that show?

Wouldn’t’ve minded seeing Woz on Dancing With the Stars, though …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
