Did I ever tell you that Movie Night Adrian’s a bit on the shy side?
Which — so you know — is why there’s a picture of a couple of Adrian’s soup bowls, there, just to suggest a certain amount of Adrianosity.

But I do know that he’s occasionally helpful, bless him … !
Do you remember me telling that me family, between them, had got me a LaCie 2d DVD burner that was capable of hooking up by both USB and FireWire 400?
Well, it’s proving it’s worth, already, I know that.
Not only have I been able to use it to boot from the Mac OS X 10•6•0 Snow Leopard install disc, it’s also shown itself to be faster — on the whole — at burning data discs.
At least certainly with Disc Utility and the normal OS X burning process.
Now Roxio’s Toast brand of burning software has been around — and well spoken of — for quite some time.
But was something I’d not had the chance of using, ’til now.
Up until just recently, I’d been using the Mac OS X onboard Disc Utility to burn the various Ubuntu disc’s I’ve given to various friends and installed on various machines.
But I wanted to see if Toast could deal with .iso files.
And I wanted a bit of help, just make sure …
Which is why I asked Adrian to double check the result’s for me, to see if it worked …

It did!
As you can probably tell from the attached screen shot … !!

And I think Adrian was — mildly, very mildly — impressed.
Certainly enough to want to have a further look ’round Karmic Koala, certainly.
One thing I know that Adrian’s never been too happy with the GNOME desktop, preferring the lighter code base of the XFCE desktop. (Well … That and the fact neither XFCE or KDE are brown* … )
What’s more, I know that he usually goes for various BSD Unix, as these can handle running too versions of Python side by side.
(Actually, I’m hoping he’ll be able to put a brief layman’s guide to the subject as a comment to this … )
But he did admit that looking around the Live Disc version of Ubuntu 9•10 got him interested enough to at least make various “Oooooh” noises.
Which, Adrian being Adrian, means he’s vaguely impressed, indeed …
* Come back Waynetta, all is forgiven … !
