Hmmm …
You know, the BBC’s news channel does get interesting, this time of the morning, it really does.
One of the items … ?
Who’s — basically — calling for the legalisation of currently illegal hard drugs.
Well, not legalisation: but certainly decriminalisation, along with better regulation, and — where deemed helpful — taxation.
Hmmm …
I find myself caught.
I smoke.
And I’m an ex-barman.
And someone who — for various reasons — doesn’t drink.
So I know that — on the one hand — there’s various types of help — some government funded and some not — for those of us who wish to give the habits up, or are having trouble with dealing with them.
I personally feel that legalisation can only be helpful: especially if it raises some money to fund things like rehab clinics and support for ex-offenders for whom drugs have been a major motivating factors.
On the other hand … ?
I’m also aware that — from the little I know — that the two recreational drugs that are the biggest killers … ?
Are tobacco and alcohol.
As we’re probably all aware, Prohibition in the US didn’t necessarily help.
On the other hand … ?
Regulated, legalised drugs … ?
Could be a bigger problem than we think, taxed, regulated or otherwise …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
