The Daily Teaser — 20-6-2013: Wiki Wiki … !

Can I make a confession, here … ?   I’m actually starting to feeling vaguely broody.

A few of my friends — and a lot of my neighbours — have children: and frankly, I think that’s starting to get part of my subconscious working overtime.

What doesn’t help … ?   Is I may — MAY — be a father, already, but don’t know for sure.

A few years ago, I was in a pretty bad relationship: which, on the up side, involved quite a look of frantically enjoyable sex.   Frantically enjoyable, unprotected, sex.

And before it went really bad, and we split —and trust me, this was a definite bad split, one that contributed to me giving up drinking — she told me she was pregnant.

Whether the child was mine … ?   Whether she kept the child … ?   I don’t know, and have never been able — for assorted reasons — to find out: it would be about 10 to 12 years old, if I’ve got the dates right.

Yeah … you can imagine, can’t you … ?

Let’s get moving on, shall we … ?

~≈Ì≈~

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: along with letting us know she was definitely pleased with yesterday’s Baseball themed questions, she ALSO bagged five out of five.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s WikiMedia’d questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …

Q1) 20th June, 2003, saw the founding of the WikiMedia Foundation: in which US state … ?
Q2) More to the point, it takes PART of its name — the Wiki part — from a Hawaiian word meaning what … ?
Q3) Which of its websites is an online dictionary … ?
Q4) There are roughly how many English language articles on Wikipedia: four million, five million or six million … ?
Q5) And finally … which of the WikiMedia Foundation’s sites is described as a ‘collaboratively edited knowledge base’ … ?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 19th June, 1846, saw the first recorded game of Baseball played.   In which New Jersey city … ?
A1) Hoboken.
Q2) What was the name of the arena it was played in: the Elysium Fields, Wrigley Fields or Chase Field … ?
A2) Elysium Fields.
Q3) Alexander Cartwright — the man credited with formalizing the game — is ALSO credited with founding which Baseball team … ?
A3) The New York Knickerbockers.
Q4) In the first game, who did Cartwright’s team play … ?
A4) The New York Nine.
Q5) Finally … and famously … how many strikes, before you’re out … ?
A5) Three.
Enjoy those.

I’ll leave you with this statement from Jimmy Wales …
“Imagine a world in which every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge. That's what we're doing.”
MediaWiki Foundation Cofounder, Jimmy Wales.
AND with Newcleus’ one big tune, Jam On Revenge†: ALSO known as The Wiki Wiki Song …

*        Yeah, I figured you’d like that one, Debbi.   What CAN I tell you … ? :D

†        I still believe that that’s an important question that needs asking: who WAS that spaceman … ?   We wanted to thank him …

  1. Answer 1 to yesterdays questions is completely wrong. See this article in the Daily Telegraph.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.

*   I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
