The Daily Teaser — 8-9-2013: Football Crazy

You know, that’s somehow unsurprising.

I’ve got Radio 4’s Sunday morning religious programme on, at the moment.

Just as a sign of the times?   They’ve a report on, about Syria.

Or, more specifically, on the religious response from the US’s Syrian American community’s.

And, yes, there’s quite an array of opinion: but most of the people the show’s talking to, are …

Well … I think the phrase is ‘anti-war’, which is all to the good, as far as I’m concerned.

With that said … ?

Let’s get a move on … !

~≈Â≈~

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and, along with letting me know she’s thoroughly enjoy William Gibson’s Neuromancer, also bagging four out of five.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s football themed questions, shall we?   Here they are, along with the ‘How To,’ License and video …

Q1) 8th September saw the first six matches played in England’s Football League.   In which year … ?
Q2) What was the name of the team that were that first years’ League champions … ?
Q3) In which year was the Second Division introduced: 1892, 1893 or 1894 … ?
Q4) In the re-organisation of the early 1990s, England’s top football clubs went on to form the … what … ?
Q5) Finally … what does the Football League’s pre-1992 First Division now call itself … ?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 7th September saw the birth of Queen Elizabeth 1st: in which year?
A1) 1533.
Q2) More to the point, she was born in which (then) London palace … ?
A2) Greenwich Palace: it was also known as the Palace of Placentia or Pleasaunce.
Q3) Which Royal dynasty was Elizabeth the last member of?
A3) The House Of Tudor.
Q4) Name either of Elizabeth’s parents … ?
A4) Henry 8th and Anne Boleyn.
Q5) Finally … In which year of the 1550s did Elizabeth 1st ascend the throne … ?
A5) 1558.
Enjoy those.

I’ll leave you with this thought from Bill Shankly …
“Someone said ‘football is more important than life and death to you’ and I said ‘Listen, it’s more important than that’.”
Bill Shankly.
And with Fat Les’s Vindaloo …

Have a good day … !

*        Glad to hear it, Debbi … !   Actually, the Composites site did a version of the Finn, that’s possibly worth looking up: the chap that runs it uses police identikit software to build images of fictional characters.   That’s the first image†: the second … is Frankenstein’s monster … !

†        I have to admit, I always think that image of the Finn looks a LOT like William Gibson, himself.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
