The Daily Teaser — 24-11-2013

OK …

I’ve got the telly on.

And, yes: as you’ve possibly guessed, the communal aerial’s still not been fixed.

Although we’ve been told it’ll be fixed on Monday.

Tomorrow, in other words.

Which, given we were supposed to have it fixed on Thursday … ?

Well, you can imagine the how people are feeling.

Still, although I’ve caned my broadband to do so … ?

I’ve got last night’s episode of Dr Who on.

Ahem … !

Either way …

Let’s get a move on …

~≈®≈~

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring ten out of ten.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the ‘How To,’ License and video …

Q1) 24th November, 1962, saw the first broadcast of which satirical British TV show … ?
Q2) Which recently deceased journalist and media personality was the show’s main presenter … ?
Q3) 24th November, 2012, saw 112 people killed in a fire in a clothes factory: in which Bangladeshi city … ?
Q4) 24th November, 1932, saw the opening of the FBI’s Crime lab: in Washington DC.   In which US state is it now located … ?
Q5) 24th November, 1991, saw the death of singer, Freddie Mercury: with which band did he find international fame … ?
Q6) Finally … 24th November, 1874, saw Joseph Glidden’s major patent finally approved.   What was it … ?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

A1) 1963.
Q2) On which BBC channel was it first shown … ?

Q3) What’s the title of the Dr Who fiftieth anniversary special … ?
Q4) Name any of the actors playing the Doctor in the anniversary special.
A4) Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt: although, to be fair, John Hurt was credited as the War Doctor in the Night Of The Doctor minisode.
Q5) Who’s the Doctor’s current companion … ?
A5) Clara Oswald, played by Jenna Coleman.
Q6) Who was the first actor to play the Doctor … ?
Q7) Name any of the first Doctor’s three original companions.
A7) Susan Foreman, played by Carole Ann Ford, Barbara Wright, played by Jacqueline Hill,  and Ian Chesterton, played by William Russell.
Q8) The Daleks are due to appear in the fiftieth Anniversary Special: they  first appeared in the series, in which year … ?
A8) 1963: the story’s variously known as The Daleks, The Mutants or The Dead Planet.
Q9) Also cropping up are the Zygons: who first appeared, in Terror Of The Zygons, in which year of the 1970s … ?
A9) 1975.
Q10) Finally … Matt Smith is the current — and eleventh — Doctor.   Who is due to replace him as the Twelfth Doctor?
Enjoy those.

I’ll leave you with this thought from Baruch Spinoza …
“Schisms do not originate in a love of truth, which is a source of courtesy and gentleness, but rather in an inordinate desire for supremacy.”
Baruch Spinoza, 24 November 1632 – 21 February 1677.
And with this song …

Have a good day.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
