The Daily Teaser — 9-11-2013

You know, I am really getting used to the BBC’s iPlayer, I really am.

This week’s episode of QI and Have I Got News For You … ?    You can’t go FAR wrong, I’m sure.

Actually, iPlayer’s got advantages over Channel 4’s catch-up service.   Channel 4’s iPod app is nice … but won’t play through my TV: UNLIKE iPod, currently happily showing all sorts of things.

Point against Channel Four, I think, that … !

Hmmm …

Let’s get moving, shall we?   Before I start to rant …

Yesterday’s Teaser* saw Debbi putting in her answers: AND bagging five out out of five.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we?   Here they are, along with the ‘How To,’ License and video …

Q1) 9th November, 1967, was the publication date for the first edition of Rolling Stone magazine.   The magazine was named after a song by whom … ?
Q2) That first issue’s lead article was about which music festival: Monterey, Glastonbury or Woodstock … ?
Q3) Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas was initially published in Rolling Stone: who wrote Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas?
Q4) The UK edition of Rolling Stone ran from 1969 to 1972: and was called what … ?
Q5) John Lennon, Paul McCartney, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, Donovan and Eric Clapton, have all appeared on which bit of the magazine … ?
Q6) Rolling Stone writer, Jon Landau, once wrote “I saw rock and roll future and its name is … ” … what … ?
Q7) Finally … who was Rolling Stone’s first editor … ?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 8th November, 1519, saw Hernán Cortés enter which Central American city … ?
A1) Tenochtitlan: in what’s now, of course, Mexico City.
Q2) That city was ruled by which native American tribe: the Aztec, Inca or Mayans … ?
A2) The Aztec.
Q3) The tribe concerned was led by whom … ?
A3) I always saw him called Montezuma: more correctly, he’s Moctezuma 2nd: or Moctezuma the Younger.
Q4) The ruins of the city are in what’s now which Central American country … ?
A4) Mexico: in Mexico City, to be exact.
Q5) Finally … Cortés was one of the generation of Spanish conquerors known as … what … ?
Enjoy those.

I’ll leave you with this thought …
“When I first heard Bob Dylan at Monterey I did not like him.   I was deaf.”
Ralph J. Gleason, Rolling Stone music critic and cofounder.
And a Bob Dylan tune …

Have a good day … !

*        Drat, that reminds, me Debbi: I’ll HAVE to look up that post of yours, for yesterday!   I had a bit of a busy day … !

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
