The Daily Teaser — 13-9-2014

Yeah GODS, but I’m up early … !

No, really early!

At least … early for me.

And definitely way too early for a Saturday morning.

Frankly … ?

I’m asking myself why.

Oh, yeah, I know why … !

I’m babysitting, me nephew, Jude.

I’d better get a move on, as I’m starting early … …

~≈Á≈~
With that in mind, let’s get a move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring five out of six.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 13th September, 1898, saw Hannibal Goodwin patent photograph film made from what: celluloid, glass or paper?
Q2) 13th September, 1968, saw which country leave the Warsaw Pact: Albania, Bulgaria or Czechoslovakia?
Q3) 13th September, 1965, saw the birth of drummer, Zak Starkey.   Zak’s been a member of The Icicle Works, The Who, The Lighting Seeds and Oasis.   Who’s Zak’s dad?
Q4) 13th September, 1971, saw the birth of which fashion designer?
Q5) Finally … In many countries, 13th September is Programmer’s Day: in a non-Leap Year.   When is it held, in a Leap Year?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 12th September, 490 BC, is the conventionally accepted for the Battle of Marathon.   On one side were an ancient Greek army: from which city?
A1) Athens.
Q2) The Greeks were fighting an invading army from where: Egypt, Persia or Rome?
A2) Persia.   (Or what was THEN know as the Achaemenid Empire.   Or First Persian Empire.)
Q3) Who was the enemy king who ordered the invasion: Darius 1st, Julius Caesar or Herod Antipas?
A3) Darius 1st.
Q4) The Marathon race is inspired by the story of the messenger, Pheidippides: who delivered the news of Greek victory.   To which city?
A4) Athens, again!
Q5) Which Greek god is supposed to have appeared to Pheidippides: Pan, Apollo or Zeus?
A5) Pan.   (He’s also supposed to have appeared at the battle: and helped the Greeks by inspired terror — or Panic — amongst their enemies.)
Q6) Finally: the battle is supposed to be the first recorded incidence of which medical condition … ?
I’ll leave you with this light and fluffy tune …

And this thought …
“When business executives are making the artistic decisions and don't understand animation, things can go awry.”
Don Bluth, born 13th September, 1937.
Enjoy you day.

I really enjoyed that show about the Dark Web. I've been acquainted with that term since library school. But whoa! -- it gives you pause, doesn't it?

  2. That it does, Debbi!

Remind me to tell you about GURPS Cyberpunk, in the morning: that’s where I first came across the idea.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
