The Daily Teaser — 17-9-2014: The Space Shuttle

Hmmm …

It’s Wednesday.

Which means it’s the day after I’ve had two interviews.

Which is all good!

Although I have to say, the one I had in Chelmsford — yesterday — seemed a bit more kosher, than the one I had on Monday.

Either way, though … ?

Well, either way, I’ve had two interviews.

Which is a morale booster for an ageing jobseeker:  if even I don’t get one of these gigs, my CV’s interesting enough for someone in an industry I’m not experienced with, to want to interview me.

That’s a good thing, I think.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 17th September, 1976, saw NASA unveiling the original Space Shuttle.   What was its name … ?
Q2) That shuttle was designated the OV 101.   OV stood for Orbital … what … ?
Q3) Was the OV 101 capable of spaceflight … ?
Q4) The OV 101’s flight test were in 1977, and involved it being launched from which aircraft: an Airbus A380, a Boeing 747 or the FA Merlin?
Q5) Finally … name any of the Space Shuttles that took operational flights …
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 16th September is the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.   The ozone layer is in which part of Earth’s atmosphere: the Mesosphere, Stratosphere or Troposphere … ?
A1) The Stratosphere.
Q2) The Ozone layer has higher concentrations of ozone than the rest of the atmosphere.   Ozone is a form of which gas: nitrogen, helium or oxygen … ?
A2) Oxygen.   (Chemically, it’s O₃)
Q3) Ozone in this part of the atmosphere is made by reactions with what: electricity, ultraviolet light or x-rays?
Q4) Ozone shields Earth from 97 to 99 percent of the Sun’s medium frequency what: ultraviolet light or infrared light?
A4) Ultraviolet light.
Q5) Finally … 1985, saw scientists1 announce they’d discovered a hole in the Ozone Layer.   Over which continent: Africa, Asia or the Antarctic?
A5) The Antarctic.   (The total column-ozone is usually expressed in Dobson Units.   Apparently … )
I’ll leave you with this tune …

And this observation …
“Having the opportunity to fly the first flight of something like a space shuttle was the ultimate test flight.”
Former Shuttle pilot, Robert Crippen.
Enjoy your day … !

*        Actually, Debbi†, Time Heist looks rather good.   We do like a bank job, in the UK …

†        I don’t know for sure, Debbi: but if you can’t view those videos in Safari, you MAY be able to use Tor to do so.   That’s one good side of the app.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
