It has to be said, I do like a movie, now and again.
No, really.
Personally … ?
Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and The Imitation Game: either renting them or seeing them at the cinema.
Actually, anyone wanting to buy me a cinema ticket and the train fare to Romford, is welcome to.
I don’t think a cinema’s going to be built in Brentwood for a while: ever though the recent consultation that Brentwood Council did, indicated a cinema is something the folk of Brentwood wanted to see.
At ANY rate … ?
At any rate, I likes me a movie, now and then.
Tonight’s rental … ?
Tonight’s rental was the Noel Clarke directed, 2014 film, that is … The Anomaly.
And … ?
Well, it’s far from perfect …

Set in a not too distant future, The Anomaly sees Noel Clarke as Ryan: a deeply traumatised young man suffering from Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder.
That’s not his big problem.
His BIG problem is that he’s woken up, in the back of a van: with a young man called Alex, who’s wearing a bag over his head, and chained to the wall of the van.
A young man who — on he and Ryan’s escape — reveals that his mother has been killed by the people who kidnapped him.
People who — it seems — include Ryan.
Ever get the feeling you’ve had a worse night than you thought … ?

Now …
I’ve said The Anomaly is far from perfect.
Absolutely, it’s far from perfect.
There’s maybe a few too many fight scenes, and a touch not enough character development.
On the other hand … ?
On the OTHER hand, The Anomaly moves along at a good pace, the characters are sketchy but well drawn for that.
Yes, it could be better.
But Noel Clarke’s The Anomaly is quite an improvement on the last film of his I saw — 2013’s Storage 24 — and had a very entertaining evening.
Personally?
That’s worth the money, I think.
