The Daily Teaser — 14/11/2014: World Diabetes Day

Oh, LOVELY … !

Someone’s kicked the front door in … !

I have to admit, the street I live on … ?   Is mostly, an OK place to live.

OK, you get the ODD incident.   Mostly what — back in the day — we used to refer to as ‘handbags as dawn’.

Last night … ?

Given the state of the front door window, last night, I think we can say this was suitcases, rather than handbags.

Someone … ?

SOMEONE had a little too much to drink, last night …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* popping in to say Hello: but not leaving her answers.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 14th November is World Diabetes Day.   Diabetes is caused by a shortage of which hormone?
Q2) More to the point, that hormone is usually produced by what: the liver, the pancreas or the kidneys?
Q3) The shortage of that hormone leads to too much what: sucrose, glucose or fructose?
Q4) What’s the full name of diabetes?
Q5) Noted 80s singer, Mari Wilson famously suffers with Type 1 Diabetes:  she clocked up a UK № 8, with what song?
Q6) Fellow sufferer, Halle Berry famously won her Best Actress Oscar for which 2001 film?
Q7) Actress and diabetes sufferer, Mary Tyler Moore, does a lot of work for diabetes charities in the US: during the 1960s, she famously played the wife of which actor?
Q8) H. G. Wells also suffered with the condition: which of his novels was turned into an album by Jeff Wayne?
Q9) Wells, Wilson, Berry and Moore all shared their condition with the Godfather Of Soul.   Who was the Godfather Of Soul?
Q10) Finally … Author and Merry Prankster, Ken Kesey, suffered with diabetes: his one well known novel was turned into which Jack Nicholson film?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 13th November saw Great Britain win the World Cup, at Rugby.      At which Rugby code?
A1) Rugby League.
Q2) In which year of the 1950s?
A2) 1954.
Q3) Who did we beat?
A3) France.
Q4) What was the score: 16-10, 16-11 or 16-12?
A4) 16-12.
Q5) In the Rugby code we’re talking about, how many members does each team have: 11, 13 or 15?
A5) 13.
Q6) How many players per team are there, in the other Rugby code: 11, 13 or 15?
A6) 15.
Q7) When was the most recent Rugby World Cup: at least, of the code  we’re discussing?
A7) 2013.
Q8) Name any of the teams that played in that competition.
A8) Australia, the Cook Islands, England, Fiji, France, Ireland, Italy,  Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Scotland, Tonga, United States, Wales and New Zealand: the Kiwis, whilst they wear black and do a Haka, are not to be confused with the All-Blacks, also from New Zealand, wear black, do a Haka, but play the Other Game …
Q9) Which nation won the 2008 World Cup?
Q10) Finally … Rugby was supposedly invented when a schoolboy ran with the ball in his hands.   What was that schoolboys name?
A10) William Webb Ellis: although the investigating sub-committee of Rugby School’s Old Boy’s association has never been able to verify the story.
As Patti LaBelle’s has the condition?   I’ll leave you with this song …

And this thought …
“I do not love to work out, but if I stick to exercising every day and put the right things in my mouth, then my diabetes just stays in check.”

Halle Berry.
Enjoy your day.

*        I’m hoping so, too, Debbi: but one never knows, does one?

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
