The Daily Teaser — 19-11-2014: The National Lottery

You know, right now … ?

Right now, I’m thinking the phrase is ‘Yoicks’.

With good reason, actually.

I had my second shift, at my new job, last night.   And managed to get to bed at 12.

And, boy, I’m feeling it!

There’s bits of me going ‘twang’ that haven’t twanged in a while!

All that … ?   All that, and boy, and I’m yawning like a good ’un.

Perils of a working life and many, I think.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* and Tetka leaving a comment.   Tetka leaving a  comment to let me know she enjoyed yesterday’s quote, and Debbi to put in her answers: and score five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s Lottery themed set, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 19th November saw the first National Lottery draw in the UK: in which year of the 1990s?
Q2) How much did one ticket — with just one entry — cost?
Q3) One entry now costs how much?
Q4) Each entry consists of how many numbers: five, six or seven?
Q5) How many balls are used in each Lottery draw?
Q6) It’s now played on Saturdays … and which weekday?
Q7) The minimum prize on the Lottery is paid if we match numbers on three balls.   How much do we win if we do: £15, £20 or £25?
Q8) Who operates the National Lottery: the Castle Group, the Chigwell Group or the Camelot Group?
Q9) The Lottery was introduced to the Isle of Mann, in 1999: at the request of the Isle of Mann’s Parliament.   What’s the name of that parliament?
Q10) Finally … What are the odds of winning a prize in the National Lottery’s main game: 52 to 1, 54 to 1 or 56 to 1?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 18th November, 1307, saw William Tell shoot fruit off his son’s head.   What type of fruit?
A1) An apple.
Q2) 18th November, 1906, saw the birth of Alec Issigonis, designer of the best selling British car of all time.   What WAS that car?
A2) The Mini.
Q3) 18th November, 1626, saw the consecration of Saint Peter’s Basilica, in Vatican  City, Rome.   According to Catholic tradition, the church is the burial place of which saint?

Q4) 18th November, 1493, saw Christopher Columbus sight which island: Puerto Rico, Jamaica or Cuba?
Q5) Finally … 18th November, 1918, saw Latvia declare its independence from Russia.   What’s the capital of Latvia?
A5) Riga.
I’ll leave you with this song …

And this thought …
“Here’s something to think about: How come you never see a headline like ‘Psychic Wins Lottery’?”

Jay Leno.
Have a good day.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
