The Daily Teaser — 19-1-2015

Hmmm …

Am I the only one who finds that annoying?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been watching the TV series, Gotham.

And thoroughly enjoying it.

What’s annoyed me, though … ?   Is the fact the show’s on a mid season break: something done by a lot of US TV companies.

Personally … ?

Personally, that’s irritating the hell out of me.

Granted, it’s not fault of Channel Five, the show’s UK distributer.

But I find it annoying.   Having grown up in the UK, where the mid-season break isn’t common, I see a TV series is one whole and entire unit: designed to be watched one episode at a time, over a course of a few months.

Having such a break?   Having such a break is — to me — both annoying, irrational …

And bloody stupid.

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: AND scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 19th January, 1809, saw the birth of Edgar Allen Poe.   Which of his short stories popularized cryptography: The Raven, The Gold Bug or The Cask of Amontillado?
Q2) 19th January, 1813, saw the birth of Henry Bessemer.   The Bessemer Process he invented, is a process for refining what: steel, copper or iron?
Q3) 19th January, 1807, saw the birth of General Robert E. Lee.   Did he fight for the North or South, in the US Civil War?
Q4) 19th January, 1917, saw an explosion in Silvertown: in what’s now the London Borough of Newham.   The explosion was caused by what: 50 tons of TNT, 50 tons of rifle bullets or 50 tons of dynamite?
Q5) Finally … 19th January, 1986, saw the first computer virus released into the wild.   For what: PCs, Macs or Nintendo Game Gears?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 18th January, 1919, saw the founding of Bentley Motors, Ltd.   The company’s based in which Cheshire town?
A1) Crewe.
Q2) 18th January, 1967, saw Albert DeSalvo jailed for life: after being convicted on assault and armed robbery.   How many woman did he claimed to have killed, as the Boston Strangler?
A2) 13.
Q3) 18th January, 1947, saw the birth of Takeshi Kitano.   In which 1995 film did he play Takahashi?
Q4) 18th January, 1535, saw the formal founding of the city of Lima.   Lima is the capital of which South American country?
A4) Peru.
Q5) Finally … 18th January, 2000, saw a meteor hit Tagish Lake.   The lake is in which American country?
A5) Canada.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I have great faith in fools — self-confidence my friends will call it.”

Edgar Allen Poe, January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849.
And this song …

Enjoy your day.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
