The Daily Teaser — 7-4-2015

Hmmm …

You know I’ve been watching Gotham, don’t you?

I’ve got to admit, as frustrating — extremely frustrating — as I’ve found the mid-season gap?

The actual series itself, is VERY good.

Last night’s episode — the one I’ve got on in the background, now, following, following the Crane family shenanigans — is looking as good as ever.

And quite grim.

I’m not complaining, yet.

Just wondering if Channel 5 has some form of alert for the start of the next series …

~≈fl≈~

But let’s get a move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring four out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Her they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 7th April, 1827, saw inventor, John Walker, sell his first what to the public: Match, light-bulb or gas lamp?
Q2) 7th April, 1948, saw the founding of the WHO: a body of the United Nations.   What does the H stand for?
Q3) 7th April, 1964, saw IBM announce its System/360 range of mainframe computers.   IBM stands for International Business … what?
Q4) 7th April, 1978, saw President Jimmy Carter cancel US development of what atomic weapon?
Q5) Finally … 7th April, 1860, saw the birth of businessman, W. K. Kellogg: he of cornflakes fame.   What type of horse was he a breeder of: Arabian, Shire or French Trotter?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 6th April, 1652, saw Jan van Riebeeck establish a resupply camp: in the Cape Of Good Hope.   What’s that resupply camp now called?
A1) Cape Town.
Q2) 6th April, 1893, saw Wilford Woodruff dedicate a very large church: in what’s now Salt Lake City, in Utah.   That church is now the main one: for which religious group?
A2) The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints: the Mormons, in other words.
Q3) 6th April, 1947, saw the awarding of the first Tony Awards: in the USA.   The Tonys are awarded for excellence in what: the Theatre, the movie industry or scientific achievement?
A3) The theatre.
Q4) 6th April, 1320, saw the people of Scotland re-affirming their independence from England: by signing the Declaration of where?
A4) The Declaration of Arbroath.
Q5) Finally … 6th April, 1973, saw NASA launch the Pioneer 11 probe.   The probe was due to explore Saturn, Jupiter … and what else?
A5) The Asteroid Belt.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Sequels are not done for the audience or cinema or the filmmakers. It's for the distributor. The film becomes a brand.”

Francis Ford Coppola, born April 7, 1939.
And this tune …

Have a good day!

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
