The Daily Teaser — 24-5-2015: Judgement Day … !

Oh, now that’s sad …

You probably now I’ll have BBC Radio Four on, at this time of the morning.

I have BBC Radio Four on at this time of the morning: just in case you didn’t realise.

They’ve just had the news on.   And, buried between Ireland’s ‘Yes’ result — congratulations, there, Ireland! — and news of Sweden winning Eurovision — congratulations, Sweden! — was news of murder, in Didcot.

A man, a woman and a child.

Apparently, the police are treating it as suspicious: although no arrests have been made.

It’s sad: whenever the death of a child’s involved.   But I’m willing to hazard a guess at what’s happened.   I’m guessing somewhere along the line, one of the family — the father, I’m assuming, but could be wrong — has been put out of a job: something like that.   Or, the other reason I’m guessing at?   Is that the child or mother is seriously ill.

Whatever the motivation?

Whatever the motivation, it like someone’s decided the whole family’s death is preferable to living.

That’s sad …

No … that’s tragic …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* and newcomer, Hoof Hearted†, putting in their answers: with Hoof Hearted scoring nine out of ten, and Debbi bagging ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 24th May, 1976, saw California wine do very well: in the competition known as the Judgement of where?
Q2) The competition featured white wine made from which grape: Sauvignon blanc, Chardonnay or Riesling?
Q3) Which French region is noted for that grape: Alsace, Burgundy or Corsica?
Q4) The red wine at the Judgement was Cabernet Sauvignon.   Which French region was represented at the contest: Beaujolais, Bordeaux or Burgundy?
Q5) Which well known Spanish region is famed for its Cabernet Sauvignon?
Q6) Which Californian valley is famed for its wine?
Q7) What colour of wine is usually made with the skins left on the grape?
Q8) Alsace wine is made where: France, Germany or Austria?
Q9) Champagne, Crémant, Cava and Prosecco are sparkling wines.   In other words, they’re fizzy.   Which gas makes these wines fizz?
Q10) Finally … Wines that are a pinkish colour are known as what?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 23rd May saw the deaths of Bonnie and Clyde: in which year of the 1930s?
A1) 1934.
Q2) They were killed in what’s now Bienville Parish: in which US state in Bienville Parish?

Q3) The pair were killed by how many lawmen: six, seven or eight?
A3) Six.
Q4) Which of the pair’s surname was Barrow?
A4) Clyde.
Q5) What was the other partner’s surname?
A5) Parker.

Q7) The most accurate reports of the couple’s first meeting, says they met where: East Harlem, West Dallas, North Huston or South Los Angeles?
Q8) The pair were shot in what car: a Chevrolet, a Ford V8 or a Plymouth?
A8) A Ford V8.   (A souped up version of this car is better known as the Eliminator: owned by Billy Gibbons of ZZTop, and used on their album of the same name.)
Q9) In the 1967 film, Bonnie and Clyde, Clyde was played by Warren Beatty, Bonnie by Faye Dunaway.   Who directed the film?
Q10) Finally … who, in 1968, recorded a song called The Legend Of Bonnie and Clyde?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I rather like bad wine … one gets so bored with good wine.”

Benjamin Disraeli.
And three tunes …

Enjoy your day.

*        It’s bloody annoying, Debbi!   And, believe it or not, they’re not even telemarketers: although those are annoying, too.   I’ve written about this before.   Basically, what these guys are doing is phoning people up: and pretending to be from either Microsoft, or a Microsoft approved company.   And tell you that they’ve got records indicating you’re PC is acting up.   They’ll even go through a bit of a routine to get you to open up the PC’s logs, logs that looks intimidatingly technical: and convince you you’ve been hacked.   THEN they’ll either sell you a dubious piece of software that ‘protects’ your machine.   OR convince you to hand them remote access so they can ‘remove the viruses’.   Usually, they put the phone down, when I tell them I’ve got a Mac.   But that doesn’t make it any less annoying, when it happens.   ESPECIALLY early on Saturday morning!!

†        Welcome aboard, Hoof Hearted!   Please feel free to keep coming back … !

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
