The Daily Teaser — 10-12-2015

Lord knows what happened, there, then … !

Did I tell you that I get up, at night, to go to the loo?

Every-so-often, I get up at night …

Yeah, you get my point.

I managed it, this morning.   And couldn’t help but notice the flashing emergency lights,

And wondering what that was.

The WEIRD bit … ?

I’ve just had a reporter from the Gazette get in touch with me.

LITERALLY.

It turns out that a fire broke out in an electrical cupboard, in Torville Court.

I’m thinking, right now, that things could’ve been a lot worse.

Especially if, as I’ve maintained for years, the parking around here gets any worse than it is …

~≈∑≈~

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Debbi* and Olga† putting in their answers: with both scoring ten out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Japan’s notorious 300 Million Yen Robbery took place: on the morning of 10th December, 1968.   The money was stolen from a what: bank, post office or accountants?
Q2) The Japanese Yen — like the Chinese Yuan — is represented by a variation of which letter?
Q3) Whilst we’re feeling Japanese … 10th December, 1942, saw Imperial Japanese forces land on the island of Luzon: at the start of their invasion of the country Luzon is part of.   What IS that country?
Q4) Zanzibar became independent: on 10th December, 1963.   Which ocean is it in?
Q5) The then Kings of France and Aragon, the Holy Roman Emperor, and the then Pope formed the League of Cambrai: on the 10th December, 1508.   The League was an alliance opposed to which rather wet city-state?
Q6) Finally … What became the 20th US state, on 10th December, 1817?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

A1) 1916.
Q2) What name was Kirk born under?
Q3) Kirk’s eighth film — released in 1949  — saw him play unscrupulous boxer, Midge Kelly: in a film that saw him garner good reviews.   What was the film called?

A7) James Stewart, Gregory Peck and Gene Autry.
Q8) In Is Paris Burning, Kirk plays General George Patton.   The film is about the 1944 liberation of which city?
A8) Paris.   (You thought it was about Budapest?)

Q10) Finally … how many Best Actor Oscars has Kirk received?
A10) None: despite being nominated three times.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“When all else fails, be enigmatic.”

John Colicos, December 10, 1928 – March 6, 2000.
And this tune …

Have a good day …

*        He didn’t get a dickybird, Debbi!   Olga pointed out he got nominated three times, and got an honorary one.   Even so … !

†        Oh, I’ve had a word with my landlords, Olga: apparently, the place isn’t under-occupied, and the resident isn’t subletting.   I’ve only ever seen one light on in the place: in what, effectively, is a three bedroom house.   LORD knows what’s happening, there … !

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
