The Daily Teaser — 29-12-2015

Good lord, Lemmy’s died … !

I don’t know if you’re ever one for some of the … uhhh … harder forms of rock music.

But over the years?

You, like I, wouldn’t have missed Motorhead: quite possibly the fastest, loudest, heavy metal band on Planet Earth.

You’d’ve probably also heard a few of Motorhead’s songs.

Once heard … ?   Not forgotten.

The man behind both the vocals, and basslines?   Has died.

The world will be a quieter place.

Sadly.

RIP, Lemmy.

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* putting in her answers: scoring six out of seven in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) Charles the Bald was crowned: on 29th December, 875.   As what: King of the Franks, Tsar of all the Russias or Holy Roman Emperor?
Q2) 29th December, 1974, saw the birth of actor, Mekhi Phifer.   In which TV series did he play Dr Greg Pratt?
Q3) A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man was published for the first time: on 29th December, 1916.   Written by James Joyce, the story tells us about Stephen … whom?
Q4) For the first time in some seven years, Britain ground to a half, in sub-zero temperatures.   On 29th December, of which year of this century?
Q5) Finally … The USA annexed what’s now which US state: on the 29th December, 1845?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 28th December, 1612, saw the first observations of the planet Neptune.   By which Italian astronomer?
Q2) What did he think Neptune was: a fixed star, a planet or a comet?
A2) A fixed star.
Q3) The discovery of Neptune is generally credited to which Frenchman?
Q4) The planet is named after Neptune: the Roman god of what?
A4) The sea.
Q5) At the time of writing, Neptune has how many known moons?
A5) 14.
Q6) What’s the largest of those moons?
A6) Triton.
Q7) Finally … How long does Neptune take to complete one orbit of the Sun: 164.8 years, 264.8 years or 364.8 years?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“It’s my job, I like working, I’ve done it since I was 14. It’s a great habit.”

Bernard Cribbins, born 29th December, 1928.
And this tune …

Have a good day.

*        It’s WELL worth seeing, Olga: I don’t know if it’s the best Star Wars movie, yet, but my WORD, it’s worth the price of admission.   (My review’s here, so you know: it’s got serious spoilers, though, so I’d only read it, AFTER you’ve seen it!!)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
