The Daily Teaser — 12-1-2016

I have to confess, right at the moment?

I’m mildly distracted.

Mostly where I’ve got last night’s episode of Gotham: series 2 started on Channel 5.

I’ve got it on in the background, as I write.

Yes, I know it’s airing at a later date the in the US: but Channel Five have told us it will be aired in one complete go.

Something I’m happy to hear.

I’m also watching several of the inmates break out of Arkham.   Including Jim Gordon’s ex, Barbara.

It’s looking like one HELL of a hairy opening … !

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Debbi* and Olga† putting in their answer: both scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How toLicense and video …

Q1) Fifty years ago, today, 12th January, 1966, saw the US TV debut of which Caped Crusader?
Q2) More to the point, the character originally appeared in comics from which publisher: Marvel, IPC or DC?
Q3) Five years later, All in the Family premiered on US TV: on 12th January, 1971.   The show’s creators took their inspiration, in part, from which BBC show?
Q4) All in the Family followed the life of Archie … who?
Q5) A decade after All in the Family aired, 12th January, 1981 saw the first airing of Dynasty.   The show focused on Blake and Krystle whom?
Q6) Finally … One of Dynasty creators, Esther Shapiro, claimed to have been inspired to create the show by which Derek Jacobi series?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 11th January, 2015, saw the death of actress and model, Anita Ekberg.   In which 1960 film had she found prominence?
A1) Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita.
Q2) 11th January, 1972, saw East Pakistan rename itself.   What?
Q3) 11th January, 1787, saw William Herschel first observe Titania and Oberon.   The two are moons of which planet: Uranus, Saturn or Jupiter?
A3) Uranus.
Q4) Enver Hoxha assumed power as his country’s dictator: on 11th January, 1946.   Which country was it: Albania, Bulgaria or Croatia?
A4) Albania.
Q5) Finally … Surgeon, Sir James Paget, was born on 11th January, 1811.   Paget’s disease, named after him, is a disease of what: the heart, kidneys or bones?
A5) Bones.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I do not live for what the world thinks of me, but for what I think of myself.”

Jack London, January 12, 1876 – November 22, 1916.
And this tune …

Enjoy your day!

*        I have to admit, Debbi, I’ve gone and bought Blackstar, as a result of his death.   I’ve not heard it, yet: I’m trying to set up Bruce, my old Mac Mini, so my Mum^ can use it.

†        I’d worked out what had happened, as soon as I switched the news on, yesterday, Olga^: that many photos of one person usually isn’t good!   Your right, though: Bowie was both unearthly, and a fixture: and going to be much missed.

^        Actually, my mum bought my the 7”, back when it was re-released in the early 1970s.   Gives me an excuse to play it …

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
