I’ve got to make a confession, I had the day off, yesterday: ill.
With the usual intense stomach cramps.
I think I didn’t actually help myself, by walking to work.
Believe it or not, the walk up Warley Hill occasionally helps.
It didn’t yesterday: My guts didn’t actually calm down, until about four-ish.
After I’d had an emergency appointment with my doctor’s practise nurse, who prescribed a little something for me.
Which turns out to ALSO be handy for Irritable Bowel syndrome!
Ouch!

On other fronts … ?
I’m doing what I usually do, at this time of the morning: listening to Radio 4’s Today programme.
They’s had a piece on, telling us that the BBC is planing to work with Netflix, on a remake of Watership Down.
That’s — apparently — planned to be ‘less disturbing’ than the original.
Hmm …
I don’t how to feel about that.
The scary bits are part of what made the original so memorable …

But let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’sTeaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process. It also saw Olga† leaving us a comment, while her windows are replaced.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q2)27th April, 1992, saw Betty Boothroyd elected as the first female Speaker of the House of Commons. Who’s the current Speaker?
A2)JohnBercow, MP. (Whenever I saw John Bercow in action at PMQ’s, he always makes me think of BettyBoothroyd. Both always seemed — or seem — to be ready to haul off an MP and clump them. Michael Martin always seemed far more civilised …)
Q3)27th April, 1906, saw the first meeting of the State Duma. The Duma was the parliament of which now gone empire?
Q5)Finally … Pripyat was evacuated: on 27th April, 1986. In the wake of an explosion at a nuclear power station, where: Moscow, Chernobyl or Vladivostok?
I’ll leave you with this thought, from the late Sir Terry …
“It’s that moment, that brief epiphany when the universe opens up and shows us something, and in that instant we get just a sense of an order greater than Heaven and, as yet at least, beyond the grasp of Stephen Hawking. It doesn’t require worship, but, I think, rewards intelligence, observation and enquiring minds. I don’t think I’ve found God, but I may have seen where gods come from.”
Sir Terry Pratchett, 28 April 1948 – 12 March 2015.
And this tune …
Have a good day …
* They’re SF icons, aren’t they, Debbi? I can’t help but think those outfits must have been uncomfortable, though! (As far as I can tell, it’s ALSO why the BBC redesigned the Daleks: the bronze ones are about 5’4” tall: and very cramped for the operators.)
† William H. Macy, William H. Macy … I know that name from somewhere, Olga, hang on … Hmmm … I think I’m thinking of the Macy’s department store in New York: I’ve just had a look at his filmography, and missed ALL of them! (Oh, apparently, he voiced Brian the Snail in the movie version of The Magic Roundabout‡.)
‡ My mum once went for dinner with a couple of old friends: one of whom was a native Swedish speaker. For some reason, they got talking about The Magic Roundabout. Mum’s friend … ? Mum’s friend managed to mispronounce Dougal’s French name: and, apparently, managed, in a crowded restaurant, to ask if that was the series with Bollocks the Dog. One utter silence later … … …
Q1) Asteroid Q2) Soviet Union and later Russia Q3) Chernobyl Q4) Dennis Tito the first space tourist Q5) The Bounty William H. Macy has been on quite a few things including Fargo, Pleasantville and the American version of Shameless (he's the father...) I've never watched the new version of the Magical Roundabout but watching the old one as an adult is quite an experience.
I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
