The Daily Teaser — 7-4-2016

Well, that’s THAT done …

I mentioned — in yesterday’s posts — that I’d taken the day off ill: with the usual bad stomach.

And have to admit, I’ve made a doctors appointment, as a result.

I don’t know how you feel, but someone has to do something about my health.

That someone … ?

Is me …

~≈Ê≈~

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s teaser was quiet: with no-one putting in their answers.

So let’s see who’s up for today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) IBM announced its System 360: on 7th April, 1964.   The 360 was what: a mainframe, mini-computer or laptop?
Q2) 7th April, 1978, saw President Carter postpone US production of what: a nuclear powered submarine, a neutron bomb or an ICBM?
Q3) 7th April, 1969, is the usual date given for the birth of the Internet.   File sharing over the ’Net can be done with FTP: or File Transfer … what?
Q4) 7th April, 1891, saw the birth of Danish businessman, Ole Kirk Christiansen: the man who founded which toy company?
Q5) Finally … 7th April, 1986, saw Sir Clive Sinclair sell his computer business to Amstrad.   Name any of the three ZX computers his company sold.
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 6th April, 1893, saw Latter Day Saint leader, Wilson Woodruff, dedicate the Salt Lake Temple: the largest such temple, by floor area.   It’s in which US city?
A1) Salt Lake City, in Utah.
Q2) The Latter Day Saints, themselves, are informally known as what?
A2) Mormons.
Q3) 6th April, 1869, saw John Wesley Hyatt patent a process to coat billiard balls with what: ivory, celluloid or bakelite?
A3) Celluloid.   (Unfortunately?   The story going around is that they frequently exploded.   Possibly the only time I can get away with saying “His balls exploded,” in public.)
Q4) 6th April, 1973, saw the launch of NASA’s Pioneer 11 probe.   Contact was lost with probe on September 30th of which year?
A4) 1995.
Q5) The night of 6th April, 1968, saw many US cities rocked by escalating  riots.   Following whose death?
Q6) Finally … 6th April, 1939, saw the birth of former Apple CEO, John Sculley.   Before being hired by Steve Jobs, which drinks company had Sculley led?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I have done 15 years of Shakespeare but without doubt Francis Urquhart has been the best opportunity for my reputation. The only trouble is getting rid of it.”
Ian Richardson, 7 April 1934 – 9 February 2007.
And this tune …

Have a good day.

I hope you feel better soon. But you're right, it needs to be checked. I thought I had taken part in the quiz yesterday. I wonder if I answered the weekly ones or I just imagined it...

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
