“I think there’s always been singers like that and I’ve done my fair share of cheese as well.”
Marc Almond, born 9th July, 1957.
“In rock stardom there’s an absolute economic upside to self-destruction.”
Courtney Love, born 9th July, 1964.
And these tunes …
Enjoy your day …
* Oh, that they are, Olga! Which reminds me, I’ve got to book up a train ticket for Wednesday. I don’t think it’ll be cheaper, but at least’s it’s bought and paid for! (Oh, I knew Edo was what’s now Tokyo. I’m something of an ex-role-playing-gamer: with one favourite rules set being GURPS‡, by Steve Jackson Games. Their GURPS Japan rulebook was well spoken of: both as a game, and a rough guide to Japanese history.)
† SHOULD be sending something for you, today, Debbi. ;) I’m not surprised they’ve a music section, Debbi. I think we forget the music business is exactly that: a music business. Having a music writer means the WSJ can cover the business aspects AND blag a few free albums. Just so they properly review things, obviously! (Actually, Debbi, I mentioned GURPS to Olga, there: you may want to keep an eye open for GURPS The Prisoner‡. Interesting to see how Steve Jackson Games translated the show into a playable game … )
‡ Actually, the game’s makers, Steve Jackson Games, were and are well thought of: especially when researching backgrounds for their various genre-based rule-book. It got them in trouble. Their GURPS Cyberpunk rulebook got them raided by the US Secret Service, who were convinced they were up to something!
Thanks, Paul! :) One of my trivia questions for the Facebook event was obviously stolen from you. Thanks for that. I learn something new all the time here! :)

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?
I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.
Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.
Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.
Thank you.
* I know many value their online privacy. I respect that. But hope you respect my wish to see who’s commenting on my blog: and my wish for you to introduce your self to me, and to your fellow commentors.
† Your Facebook, X/Twitter, Blogger, Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn profile are acceptable. I also like seeing folks webpages.
Almost forgot, Happy Birthday, Debbi!
