Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 10-10-2016

Right …

Today is — technically — the day.

Firstly … ?   And frankly … ?

I start work, today: at least, I start the initial training period.

I’m nervous about that: as I’ll be working in an area that’s completely new to me.

Wish me luck, folks.

The one other thing I want to do, today?

Assuming I get the chance, of course!

Is relatively simple.

Phone my landlord to let them know what’s going on.

I’ve been claiming Housing Benefit for many years.   And?   In the wake of leaving KFC, I’ve had to change from Housing Benefit, to Universal Credit: and claiming the Housing Cost portion of the new benefit.

As you’re possibly Aware, the DWP have told me that the evidence I’ve given them — the Tenancy Agreement and Rent statement they themselves have asked for, along with confirming emails — were insufficient.

They’ve told me to get in touch with my landlord: something I’m going to try and squeeze in, today.

If I get the chance?   I’ll be getting in touch with them, AND the Job Centre, too!

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Angel† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The Outer Space Treaty came into force: on 10th October of which year of the 1960s?
Q2) 10th October, 1975, saw Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, do what: marry, remarry or divorce?
Q3) Fiji became independent: on 10th October, 1970.   Independent of where?
Q4) More to the point, what’s Fiji’s capital?
Q5) In a speech to her party conference on 10th October, 1980, Margaret Thatcher famously said “The lady’s not for …” what?
Q6) Finally … The Millennium Eye, in London, was moved into its final position: on 10th October, 1999.   The Eye is a giant what: roller coaster, Ferris wheel or helter skelter?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 9th October, 1944, saw the birth of bassist John Entwhistle.   Who did he play bass for?
A1) The Who.
Q2) Which Viking gets officially marked in the US: on 9th October?
Q3) 9th October is the feast of Saint Denis.   Denis was a Catholic bishop of where: Paris, Madrid or London?
A3) Paris.
Q4) 9th October is Independence Day: in which African country?
A4) Uganda.
Q5) Finally … 9th October, 1954, saw the birth of actor, Scott Bakula.    Which character does he play in NCIS: New Orleans?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I tend to believe that cricket is the greatest thing that God ever created on earth.”
Harold Pinter, 10 October 1930 – 24 December 2008.
And this song …

Enjoy your day.

*        Ot’s just a touch optimistic, Olga: but on the other hand?   I’m not complaining!   I think Dr Brian Cox was keyboard player for that band.   For about ten minutes!   (I’m more impressed with Ontario University’s Design chair, Professor Martha Ladly.   She’s quite well spoken of … and the former keyboard player for the Associates, and Martha and the Muffins.)

†        Angel, it really wouldn’t surpass me!   I mean … what on EARTH do they want … ?

‡        It just amazes me how much work I have to do … JUST to get some money, Debbi … !   Yep: three names.   Technically, I’m Paul John Smith Downie … … … LONG story … !

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
