Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12-11-2016

Hmmm …

I don’t know about you …

But — occasionally, during quiet patches at work — I’ll sneak a quiet read of the news.

Sadly … ?

Sadly, the news of Robert Vaughan dying started coming in, last night.

That’s not good news to hear.

The other piece I noticed … ?

Was this one: discussing the pros and cons of DVDs versus downloads.

Personally?

I tend to prefer DVDs: I can rip them, and resell them to my local CeX.   I can watch the Series, and offset some of the cost.

But that hasn’t stopped me downloading series three of The Strain from iTunes.

Hopefully?   I’ll get a chance to watch that during the week.

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring seven out of seven in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here the are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) A lander from the Rosetta Probe reached its target: on 12th November, 2014.   That target — 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko — was a what: meteor, comet or moonlet?
Q2) Who tendered their resignation as PM: on 12th November, 2011?
Q3) Sir Tim Berners-Lee published his proposals for the World Wide Web, on 12th November, 1991.   What type of software is used to navigate the Wed: a surfer, browser or skimmer?
Q4) 12th November, 1997, saw the Brazilian government refuse to extradite whom?
Q5) Finally … Tunisia joined the United Nations: on 12th November, 1956.      What’s the capital of Tunisia?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 11th November marks Armistice Day.   The day marks the end of WW1: in which year?
A1) 1918.
Q2) The Armistice was signed in Compiègne, in France.   Between the Allies: and which enemy nation?
A2) Germany.
Q3) That latter country’s leader abdicated at the end of the war.   Who was he?
Q4) The Armistice was built on a speech by the US President: that outlined how many points?
A4) 14.
Q5) The Armistice was signed in what: a French Chateau, a railway carriage or the Eiffel Tower?
Q6) Private George Edwin Ellison was the last British soldier to die during the war: on Armistice Day, itself.   The Royal Irish Lancer was on patrol in which Belgian city?
A6) Mons.
Q7) Finally … Peace was formally declared.   In which year: 1918, 1919 or 1920?
A7) 1920.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Only powerful people have liberty.”
Sun Yet-sen, 12 November 1866 – 12 March 1925.
And this tune …

Enjoy you day …

*        I’m going to have to look them up on iTunes, Debbi.   The minutes I get five minutes … !

I didn't hear about Robert Vaughn. My father was a big fan.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
