Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 28-11-2016

Hmmm …

What on earth has happened, there … ?

A couple of days ago, Google managed to do some upgrading to Blogger: the site I use to publish this blog.

It made it difficult — indeed impossible — to use with Safari: my default, preferred browser.

I got with using Google Chrome, for the duration.

I got on with it, it has to be said.   Although Chrome works differently enough to make using it a (minor) annoyance.

Last night?   Last night, I opened Safari, and pressed the ‘New Post’ button.

Just on the off-chance.

It loaded up the page: with not a sign of a problem.

So, this morning … ?

We’re back to normal: thanking you for the fix, Google.

Hey ho … !

~≈Á≈~

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring ten out of ten in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video

Q1) Albania declared its independence: on 28th November, 1912.   From where: the Russian, Ottoman or Japanese empire?
Q2) Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto made its debut: on 28th November, 1811.   What key is the piece in: E♭ major, E minor or F♯ major?
Q3) Which country voted against joining the EU: on 28th November, 1994?
Q4) Claude Buffet and Roger Bontem were executed in France: on 28th November, 1971.   Which famous piece of equipment was used to execute them?
Q5) Finally … NASA launched the Mariner 4 probe: on 28th November, 1964.   Which planet was the probe heading for?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 27th November saw the birth of guitarist, Jimi Hendrix.   In which year?
A1) 1942.
Q2) Famously, Jimi played the guitar, how: left or right handedly?
Q3) He also used a brand of amplifier: one he shared his middle name with.   What brand of amplifier?
A3) Marshall.
Q4) Hendrix also used a lot of effects pedals: included one that changed the tone of his guitar up and down.   What was that pedal: an octave pedal, a wah wah pedal or a fuzzbox?
A4) A wah wah pedal.   (It’s basically a tone knob you use with your foot.)
Q5) Hendrix had been a session player, for many years: before moving to the UK.   1964, for example, saw him playing on a single for whom: the Isley Brothers, Little Richard or Duane Eddy?
A5) The Islay Brothers.
Q6) He was brought to the UK, and initially promoted by Chas Chandler.   Chas had been a member of which band?
A6) The Animals.
Q7) Hendrix’s first UK hit came in 1966.   What was it called?
A7) Hey Joe.
Q8) One Hendrix hit reached number 20 in the US, was written by Bob Dylan and is on the soundtrack of Watchmen.   Which hit?
Q9) What was the name of Hendrix’s UK band?
Q10) Finally … What was the name of the last band — and LP — Jimi Hendrix recorded with or on?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“See that your cause be good, else Christ will not undertake it.”
John Bunyan, 30 November 1628 – 31 August 1688.
And this rather good tune …

Have a good day … !

*        His music’s fantastic to hear, Debbi, I know that.   Apparently?   He wrote the song, Fire, after visiting a friend’s: whose Great Dane wouldn’t move from the fireplace.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
