Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-8-2017: International Left Hander’s Day

Argh …

Possibly …

Right now?

It’s ten to six in the morning.

Yes: you’ve guessed it.

It’s International Left Handers Day.

I start work at ten.

And I’d rather be back in bed.

Oh, well …

At least I’ve found out — listening to the radio, today — that Moeen Ali — the Beard to be Feared, himself? — is a left-handed batsman.

OK: I’m no cricket fan, but that’s a result!

Now …

Before I move on?

Can I ask any of the south paws out there to switch a family member’s computer mouse to left handed use?

Let’s introduce a little left handed anarchy …

~≈Ê≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser* saw Debbi putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 13th August is International Left hander’s Day.   You’re slightly more likely to be a southpaw if you’re what: male or female?
Q2) David Bowie was left handed.   What was the name of the last album he released: during his lifetime?
Q3) Biblical figure, Ehud, was noted for being left handed.   He crops up in which book of the Bible: Genesis, Leviticus or Judges?
Q4) Barry Hawkins, Jimmy White and Mark Williams are all left handed.   And all play what?
Q5) If you’re a left leaning politician, you’re said to be what: left wing, right wing or centrist?
Q6) Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya are a left leaning party from which European country?
Q7) The GNU General Public License, along side the Creative Commons Share-Alike license are what kind of license?
Q8) What’s the naval term for the left side: port or starboard?
Q9) More to the point, what colour light is supposed to be on that side?
Q10) Finally … which left handed Star Wars star was born in Oakland, California, in 1951?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Which country was banned from attending the Olympic Games: on 12th August, 1964?
Q2) The IBM PC was originally released: on 12th August, 1981.   Did that original PC run a version of the Windows operating system?
A2) No.
Q3) Douglas Croskery was shot by Iraqi soldiers: on 12th August, 1990.   Whilst trying to flee which occupied country?
A3) Kuwait.
Q4) A strike started on 12th August, 1994: by one group of American sportsmen.   A group of sportsmen that played what: American Football, Baseball or ice hockey?
A4) Baseball.
Q5) Finally … Wing Commander Guy Gibson was born on 12th August, 1918.   The Victoria Cross winner led 617 Squadron during its best known raid.   As a result of that raid?   The Squad was known as the what?
A5) The Dam Busters.
I’ll leave you with a thought …
“Light is the left hand of darkness and darkness the right hand of light.”
Ursula K. Le Guin, The Left Hand of Darkness.
“I’m used to being in the minority. I’m a left-handed gay Jew. I’ve never felt, automatically, a member of any majority.”
Barney Frank.
And, as the tunes have a lefty involved in each of these songs …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser

Happy #LeftHanders Day!

*        I’ll think about it, Debbi: I don’t know if I’ve got enough space on my phone for an extra social network!   I want to try and get a loyalty card on there: it might just win me a car!   Ummm … (That walk out must’ve been something to see!)

My mom was left-handed. And schizophrenic. But she could also be inspiring, in her own way.

I love it when someone comments. But, having had anonymous comments I feel may be libellous, actionable or just plain offensive, over the years?

I’d appreciate you* leaving your name — with a link to your website or social-media profile†, for preference — before you post a comment.

Should you choose to use a pseudonym/name, I’d appreciate it if that name were to be polite and inoffensive. I’d rather you kept it clean, and relatively grown up. Comments left with a pseudonym will be posted at my discretion: I really prefer a link.

Contentious, actionable or abusive posts left anonymously will not be posted. Nor will comments using offensive pseudonyms or language, or that are abusive of other commenters.

Thank you.
